I have often dipped my feet into the Kataklysm pool and been more than enamoured by their sound and power so it was interesting to hear how Maurizio Iacono would transfer his talent to another project, obviously, there will be comparisons between the music, that is to be expected when a band member does something different.
The eleven tracks on “Unstoppable” are brilliant, a combination of Death, Thrash and even borderline metalcore at stages, full of power and aggression. The album opens with the crushing “You Will Know Who I Am” Iacono’s mighty vocals lead the way with brutal force as the drums and guitars follow suit, a melodic chorus leads to some killer guitar work with a great solo before the heavy returns. “Eagles” has more of a thrash feel to the rhythm with cutting riffs and pounding drums, melodic chorus’ and demonic vocals alternate giving you one of the best tracks on here. “Bleed Me Out” has a metalcore edge to it, a big opening with crashing drums and heavy riffs as Iacono growls through the song, the clean and growled vocals play off each other really well at the chorus’ and the back end of the track, this is a killer song. A blistering drum beat sets the tone on “Exiled”, an absolute belter that hits you full force with chugging riffs and heavy bass, Iacono vocals kill it big time and are nicely tempered with some great melodic chorus and a great solo towards the backend of the track.
“Get Up” has a killer groove to it and will have you banging your head right from the off with monster riffs and thumping drums as Iacono hooks you with his savage vocals, a brilliant track. “Weaponised” smashes you right in the face as it opens up with a brutal onslaught of drums, guitars and screaming vocals that run into a chorus that is as anthemic as you’ll get, there will be must feet stamping and fist-pumping to this, before dropping back to the insanity, a nice solo sets up a brutal death style finale that rips big time. “3656” is a grinding groove monster that on first listen doesn’t really catch your attention but after multiple plays, this is one of the best on the album, it has such an infectious beat it is unreal, and the screamed and clean vocals at the chorus play well off each other, adding that little bit extra to the track. “Ghost Of My Father” is an animal of a track, full of aggression it pummels you into submission with a barrage of drums, bass and savage riffs as Iacono spits venom with growled and screamed vocals, amongst the carnage is a cracking solo that is so out of place it fits just perfectly, a cracking tune. “Darkest Of Enemies” is a bass and drum-driven monster with a killer beat that will have you dreaming of the mosh pit, a slow mid-section with a seriously heavy groove and melodic chorus’ to take the track to the next level. “American Outcast” has a brutally heavy beat to it; underlined by crashing drums and a booming bass, although the track is heavy as fuck there is a cool underlying groove to it that combined with savage vocals and amazing guitars offers up another brilliant track. The album closes with the savage “Keeping the Wolves At Bay” that opens with a piano intro before it explodes into chaos, everything is dialled up to 10 as each band member puts in an incredible performance as if they saved their best for last, a beast of a track and a great way to finish the album.
