Italy’s newest dealers in Death Shrieking Demons are about to unleash their doomy debut onto the world.

Formed in 2021 & branding a classic death doom style touching upon greats like Autopsy & Druid Lord with a hint of Death & Obituary.

Their newest release “The Festering Dwellers” & on Transcending Obscurity Records is ten tracks of the most putrid, vile & rotten death imaginable.

With the creaking sound of the lid of the coffin beginning to open “Devour My Wicked Soul” fast-paced gore-soaked punk style beat which gives those heavy Necrot & Autopsy feels also switches up into these slow, big riffing parts that have your headbanging to serve your own spinal cord hard.

Giorgio (Assumption, Bottomless) gives us a soaring lead solo in the track’s bridge breakdown, which is a haunting reverb-soaked nightmare that perfectly fits the track.

With its whammy-drenched brilliance the opening riff to “Sorrowful Dismal Bliss” is somewhat hypnotising. Feeling like a “what if” Tony Iommi joined Hooded Menace. This great riff drives the track & the conjunction of drummer David’s (Assumption, Bottomless) simple but hard, sitting perfectly time hits create this great & solid foundation for some hooky, catchy moments. Again the band can pick up the pace & give us a blazing hot lick before the end of the song is out. I like where this is going!

Giving us a moments to breath but also keeping you immersed with the italian horror style “Garden of the Headless Dead” is a great under two minute instrumental that gets you ready for the climax of the album & blends perfectly straight into “Longing for Total Eclipse” which opens with a very classic metal feel. King Diamond meets Celtic Frost this one is a big track but cloaked in fog & anguish.

Closing track “Apostasy, Sodomy and Sacrilege” really has an “balls out” anthemic feel. A galloping opening riff gives the track a ton of energy, building up to the moment the band drop the heaviest riff on the album.
As singer Gabri (Cancer Spreading, Gravesite) unleashes his most agonizing scream on the album & also gives the best performance on the album. A wretched & painful feeling vocal that fits perfectly with the band’s sound. Giving you inspirations of Chris Reifert or Chuck Schuldiner but also giving us his own stand out sound he really nails the whole album.

Shrieking Demons have not only been able to write a fantastic debut album, they also have a fresh & exciting take on the death doom genre.
Using the influences they have plus a splattering of their own blood to create an all out heavy, doom soaked & down right filthy but refreshing take on the genre.
