Building on last year’s EP “Chronicles I: Lust”, Void Of Vision has come, literally, screaming back to the front with their equally epic second EP “Chronicles II: Heaven”.
Five tracks that pack so much into a short time frame and from the opening refrain of “Berghain” you know you have something special on your hands; a non-stop banger with a killer drum beat, heavy bass and gritty riffs that are overlaid by some seriously cool vocals, switching up nicely between screamed and clean, and a funky electro beat that runs throughout in the background. “Dominatrix” is an electro song that violently beats you about the head with thick rumbling bass and screaming vocals, for some the electro based stuff can be a bit of a turn-off but let me tell you this kick-ass big time, the crushing drums and metalcore overtones mesh really well and give you a monster track.
Lead single “Into The Dark” is so for a reason, a real heavy hitter with a massive sound that is both melodic, dark and wickedly groovy, with thunderous drums and bass and a big dollop of electro to push it over the top, a cracking track that is sure to be a massive hit live. “Saint Miserable” is built on a pounding drum and bass beat that resonates throughout, backed up by Bergin’s savage vocals; this is a brutally heavy track that simply kills. The Ep closes with “Altar”, featuring Hannah Greenwood from Creeper on vocals, a blistering assault on the senses as you get hammered from all sides by the drums, guitars and bass while the change-up between clean and screamed vocals of both Bergin and Greenwood is immense and give the song a serious edge, all I’ll say is prepare to lose your shit, this is what music is all about!
