London’s hardcore punk band CHAOS REIGNS is set to unleash their highly anticipated new EP, Sweet Violence, a record that tackles some of the darkest and most raw aspects of the human experience. Due for release on 30th November, the EP confronts themes of love, death, murder, obsession, greed, mental health, suicide, and addiction, offering a brutally honest reflection on the fine line between pain and pleasure, life and death. In celebration, the band have also shared a music video for new single ‘Sins of Success’ and a string of UK tour dates for later this year.

Drawing influence from the distinctly more frantic end of the hardcore spectrum, CHAOS REIGNS are less focused on achieving a ‘brutal’ sound, and more so on eschewing genre cliches and tropes. “What I love about the more chaotic side of hardcore and mathcore is that anything goes”, shares bassist Billy Padmore. “The bands really try to keep the listener guessing, even if by doing something as simple as adding one extra beat to a repeated phrase. This is something we were aiming for, and we’ve already seen people in the crowd paying more attention and getting thrown off guard by some of our ‘weirder’ moments”.

Produced by the incredible Oz Craggs at Hidden Track Studios in Folkestone, the record blends CHAOS REIGNS’ trademark aggression with meticulous production, capturing the band at their most visceral. “Working with Oz allowed us to push our sound further than ever before,” says frontman Jason Heightman. “His ability to translate our raw energy into something that hits hard but remains refined was crucial to bringing the intensity of Sweet Violence to life.”

With their signature blend of aggression and intensity, CHAOS REIGNS delivers a collection of tracks that are both chaotic and calculated, capturing the tension between the beauty and brutality of existence. Sweet Violence explores the human psyche at its most vulnerable, highlighting the fragile balance between self-destruction and survival.

“We wanted to create something that cuts deep, that explores the contradictions of life – where love can turn to obsession, and where the things that drive us can also destroy us,” explains frontman Jason Heightman. “Sweet Violence is a reflection of the world we live in – where the boundary between pain and pleasure, life and death, is razor-thin.”
