Russell Dickerson is back with his latest album, Famous Back Home, out this coming Friday, August 22nd, courtesy of Triple Tigers Records. Russell has been dropping singles from this beauty like hot rocks, and each one has been hitting home.
Every track on this album is highly addictive, so much so that it should come with a health warning!
The album’s opener just sets the stage for what is to follow, a collection of easy-on-the-ear, free-flowing beauties that just make you smile as you make your way across the recording, wondering how an artist such as Dickerson can make it sound so effortless. The tracks are short and sweet, and before you know it, you’re already halfway through an album that you can’t wait to hit repeat. It’s crazy how modern-day country artists do it, 90 seconds into a track, and you feel like you’ve been best friends with a song, artist, all your life, but they somehow make a song feel like home.
The beauty of the modern-day country artist is the ability to produce such a contemporary sound that transcends the genre without even realising that you’re crossing over beyond what would be considered traditional country. But, somehow, the sounds these guys and dolls push out just take it to another level, and you’ll be shaking your tush like you’re 21 again, and believe me, I am not, but I can shake it like the best of them, and Dickerson’s soundtrack just makes you want to get up and dance! In fairness, a tracklist of a country album can often be a who’s who of gifted songwriters, but you still need an artist of the quality of Dickerson to translate that to the studio and to the listener and this one, ‘Famous Back Home’ is a glorious representation of everything great about country music in 2025.
This one was a joy to review. I was scanning this week’s releases and feeling pretty uninspired by the options in front of me till I spotted Russell’s album in a long list of forthcoming releases, and I am glad I gave it a spin. You will, too. This one is a beauty.
‘Famous Back Home’ lands this Friday, August 22nd, courtesy of Triple Tigers Records.
