Robert Jon & The Wreck // One Of A Kind // EP Review

8

Southern roots rockers Robert Jon & The Wreck are back with a new EP ‘One Of A Kind’ which is out now via Joe Bonamassa’s Journeyman Records.

It’s a short but sweet visit at only four tracks but it keeps these classy L.A. rockers in our periphery as if we needed reminding of their quality. The EP kicks off with a real gritty foot stomper in ‘Pain No More’ and as those sultry tones of Robert Jon Burrison himself you know it’s going to be a good day. The gnarly tones of the guitars cutting through the mix just drive home the edge the band can bring to their song writing at will. You’ll be up on your feet air-guitaring by the time the tasty solo and slide work kicks in leaving you begging for more.

A great introduction to the EP before ‘Who Can You Love’ slows down the pace for an airy Eagles-esque song that will envelop you like a warm blanket on a cold starry night, the alluring harmonies fill the air and provide that feel-good factor we all so badly crave right now.

The EP’s title track and latest single take no prisoners, with a vast opening, you are thrust right into the high-octane track that will have you rocking your cute little socks off in no time! A killer track that will embed itself in your brain like the sonic earworm it is. All of this before the EP wraps up with the darker-sounding finale ‘Come At Me’ with Its sexy repeating melody on the guitar which harks back to the songwriting of days gone by with an up-to-date quality. A bitchin’ finale indeed to an EP that packs a punch, from start to finish ‘One Of A Kind’ delivers what every Robert Jon & The Wreck fan wants, solid southern roots rock done right!

The EP is out now via all purveyors of fine music, and the band will be back in the UK later this year to re-educate the masses as to what a great southern rock band sounds like.

ABOUT JOURNEYMAN RECORDS

Journeyman, the newest endeavor between Joe Bonamassa and his long-time manager Roy Weisman, is a vertically integrated music management, concert promotion and marketing company that builds awareness for great live artists worldwide. After years of perfecting strategies while building Joe Bonamassa’s career, the company will utilize the same savvy tactics which allowed them to overcome industry barriers that typically held back artists from achieving success. Journeyman provides the infrastructure to take an artist from its infancy, to record music and tour without having to deal with the typical resistance of “gatekeepers” who don’t believe or support emerging acts. Bonamassa has been keen on using his experience to pay it forward to help other artists navigate the murky industry waters. Consequently, Journeyman sets itself apart in this way as being the true market maker for their artists.
