Belfast heavy hitters (Survivalist) of all things modern metal, metalcore, and deathcore with a sprinkling of groove thrown in there for good measure drop their new album today, Jan 30th 2026, and er-ma-gurd this one is a beaut! I don’t think you can fully prepare yourself for what comes at you, from the first track to the last.
Survivalist have been on the up since the day and hour they hit the scene. A few lineup changes have resulted in a solid lineup that is now crushing it and has consistently seen the band go from strength to strength in recent years. Culminating in the release of A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone, the band’s second full-length and their first in two years, the appetite for this will be huge from their ever-hungry fanbase.
The first thing that hits you is the production quality; it’s glorious. The album’s opener and title track hits you like a sledgehammer to the chest, and it does not stop there. This one is savage from beginning to end; it’s a tsunami of relentless aggression, technicality, and brutality, all fused together to create the perfect storm announcing Survivalist to the world. Having recently announced their partnership with Echelon Artists for touring and signing to Seek & Strike Records, the future is indeed bright for Survivalist.
They do seem savvy, not just tossing out singles for the craic or playing random gigs for the sake of it, but they have a very measured approach to how they want to present themselves to the world. Especially today, in a completely disposable world, the sheer volume of music on streaming services overwhelms audiences and makes it harder for bands and artists to maintain listeners’ attention.
But an album such as A Place For Those Who Suffer, Alone will do that. It is an unforgiving attack on the senses that demands your full attention!
From the minute you give this beast a spin, you are hooked. It’s almost hard to comprehend that these lads are local. I’ve sat and chewed the fat with them, and to think that when they step away, they walk into a recording studio and produce this, it’s mindblowing! Absolutely decimated it!
This is a killer album, blood, sweat and tears have been spilt here, you can tell by the work that has gone into it. The attention to detail to create this crazy sonic rollercoaster that drags you by the hair, kicking and screaming, stand up, lads, take a bow.
