Hitting the pop-punk scene with their debut album is Suitable Miss who has already been creating the storm in the US. Since releasing their first EP “Don’t Look Back” they’ve seen success with two statewide headliner tours and are now ready to take the world.
The album Elevate is full of catchy hits that cross the boundaries of pop-punk and post hard-core. Their latest single “Forever” is a great introduction to what this band does. With Joshua Roberts of Magnolia Parks joining, its melody takes you on a journey which is backed with electro beats. There are many electro infusions throughout the album including “Complicated”. There are also plenty of driving riffs to encapsulate that pop-punk sound which makes you want to jump around. “Something Missing” is the perfect example of this with its catchy chorus and angst ladder lyrics. Sarah Perez’s voice throughout the whole album perfectly picks up the emotion of each track while having a great range as shown in “Moment”. As you move through the album, each track takes you on a journey that you just don’t want to end.
All in all, Suitable Miss have done exactly as their album says and elevated the standard for modern rock. Providing energetic and hook-laden tracks they blend genres with ease and take everything loved from early 00 music into one album. If you’re a fan of bands such as Stand Atlantic then this is an album you don’t want to miss as I’ve no doubt a bright future lies ahead for this band.
