Scarlet Rebels // Where The Colours Meet // Album Review

9

Scarlet Rebels have been doing their thang’ the last few years, raking up the miles up and down the UK touring relentlessly building up an army of fans far and wide. When the opportunity to catch them live locally popped up whilst they supported Mr Big on their recent farewell tour, I jumped at the opportunity to see what all the hype was about for myself. They did not disappoint!

They hit the stage and made that gig their own with a collection of powerful and highly addictive songs that had Belfast in the palm of their hands, their new album ‘Where The Colours Meet’ was released August 16th via Earache Records and is an absolute beauty!

Just like the live performances, the album is right in your face from the off, packed wall to wall with melodic earworms that will drive you insane, you’ll be warbling along with the album from track one to track twelve, the time will fly by and you will be taken on the sonic ride of your life!

Tracks like ‘Let Me In’ should have a health warning for their addictive quality! The production is sublime by the crack production team of Colin Richardson and Chris Clancy in the studio. The guitar tone just slams you on the floor, a glorious hefty sound punching through the highly melodic songwriting you just simply cannot ignore it. There’s a glorious homage to 80’s rock here, when big hair ruled the world, songs had guitar solo’s and The Sunset Strip was the only place to be! The songs are packed with that glorious hark back to big anthems, bigger choruses and stadium-worthy sing-alongs.

‘Out Of Time’ is another beauty featuring Bristol songstress Elle’s Bailey as she collab’s on this dark emotive track, it doesn’t stop there though, as previously stated this sonic journey is a top-down, turn-it-to-11 kind of journey, no red lights here, pedal to the metal and soak it all up!

Scarlet Rebels are one of the UK hottest propositions right now, flying the flag for British Rock and making their fellow Welsh brothers and sisters immensely proud of what they achieved here with ‘Where The Colours Meet’.

It’s a killer album that I can confidently say deserves you spending your hard-earned money on, you won’t be disappointed!

Where The Colours Meet is out now via Earache Records and available via all purveyors of fine music.
