Paleface Swiss // The wilted // EP Review

9

So I have to say, I totally underestimated all things, Swiss and Paleface! This EP is an absolute beast of a recording and takes you by storm from the very first track right through to its very last. The level of brutality that Paleface Swiss brings to this recording is admirable. I was fully expecting your run-of-the-mill Nu-Metal/Metalcore vibes throughout, but sweet baby Jesus, this one is savage!

‘Wiltering Flower’ is a chaotic blend of glorious melodic lines that gives you a flavour for who Paleface Swiss are, but when the breakdowns kick in, you are left wondering wtf you are listening to and if maybe you got it all wrong. The level of brutality is more Deathcore, and beyond, with bands like Emmure coming to mind. This is one seriously tasty recording; you can’t help but get lost in its violence and just give in. The transition from one track to the next is so swift that you hardly realise you have moved on. ‘Let Me Sleep’ takes over and, again, drives home the intensity of the band’s signature sound. The guys have a melodic quality they can bring in and out at will, and they do when required to smooth the round edges, but the overall message here is just the level of heft that Paleface Swiss deliver across all five sublime tracks on this recording.

A glorious introduction for me to the band and one that could also open up a whole new world for you with this beautifully produced taster, my only complaint is that it’s five tracks long, we need more!

The Wilted EP is out now via Bloodblast Distribution, and this one has to be on your radar.

The guys hit the UK and Ireland for a run of dates this month, so take advantage and get along to a show, you can thank me later.

ABOUT PALEFACE SWISS:

Since their debut Chapter 3: The Last Selection in 2020, Paleface Swiss have risen from underground darlings to global heavyweights in the world of metal. With explosive riffs, punishing beatdowns, a brutally heavy rhythm section, and frontman Zelli’s signature vocal savagery, the band quickly gained momentum—landing four breakout tracks on Spotify’s Heavy Beatdown playlist Their 2022 follow-up Fear & Dagger pushed even further, earning praise for its emotional weight and unflinching heaviness, with standout reviews from Metal Injection, New Transcendence, and Wall of Sound. Singles like “The Orphan,” “Dead Man’s Diary” (feat. LANDMVRKS’ Florent Salfati), and “My Grave / Lay with Me” solidified their place among the new wave of deathcore’s most innovative acts.

In the years that followed, Paleface Swiss took their chaos on the road—touring with Body Snatcher, Counterparts, and The Ghost Inside, and leveling festival stages from Sick New World to Hellfest. Their live reputation exploded, converting crowds with a show that fuses unrelenting brutality and raw vulnerability. Between headline tours and viral fan demand, they released standalone anthems “Best Before: Death,” “Please End Me,” and “The Gallow”—each now included on their latest offering Cursed: The Complete Edition, the most ambitious and complete chapter of their journey so far. To date, the band have amassed over 180 million streams, 21 million YouTube views, with their Spotify Monthly listeners recently peaking at over 1 million. Their recent, sold-out Cursed Tour across Europe, the UK, and North America sold over 70,000 tickets.
