The band is regarded as one of the torchbearers of modern-day southern rock, along with the likes of Black Stone Cherry, Blackberry Smoke, Otis, Robert Jon and The Wreck and the likes they’re flying that flag loud and proud. The Rome, Georgia natives have done it all to get where they are and the miles on the road can be felt through the gutsy, gritty vibe on their latest recording.
Frontman TJ Lyle has the soul-wrenching vocal quality you need to deliver these angsty rock classics, a collection of dark emotive songs that pull at you and capture the imagination from the off. Gnarly guitar solos cut through the mix like the beauty on ‘Rock and Roll Record’ you cant help but be stopped in your tracks by its sheer power and delivery.
The albums title track is a real banger, the wall of distortion will crash down on you with this one driving home the bands gnarly side with full force, they’re full of southern charm to and ‘Moonlight Play’ showcases that in spades and will have you singing along in no time. ‘Crawling My Way Back To You’ is right up my street, glorious songwriting that shows TJ’s vocal range beautifully, but before you know it and they have lured you into a false sense of security they are blowing the doors off with ‘She’s Gonna Get It’, no rest for the wicked here!
‘Rise Above It All’ is an album steeped in real quality, it shows the evolution of a band on the rise, I have no doubt that their latest offering will propel them further into the Southern Rock stratosphere and beyond!
