SAVING VICE USHER IN A NEW ERA WITH DARK AND POWERFUL SINGLE “BLOOD OR WINE?” Vermont metalcore natives Saving Vice have returned with their aggressive new single “Blood or Wine?,” the lead single for an upcoming album slated for a 2024 release. Saving Vice have been delivering punchy instrumentation, intricate riffs, and dynamic lyricism for years now, but the masterfully crafted “Blood or Wine?” is a clear level up for the true-to-form metalcore trailblazers. This in-your-face callout track is a modern metalcore gem, dealing with the malicious nature of lying and how misinformation is used today in both political and social spectrums to ruin peoples lives and cause division without consequence. It’s chorus speaks directly to the toxic nature of misinformation, with lyrics such as “Raise the pitchforks, light the torches / Misinforming the masses / Lips dripping red as they raise up their glasses / Blood or wine?,” while the dark and sinister soundscapes fit the aptly timed Halloween release. “Blood or Wine?” marks a new era for Saving Vice, having dealt with recent lineup changes, but the band is more excited than ever to kick off a new album cycle. “It was pivotal for us to lead-off the next album cycle with a single that has the intended effect for not only us, but the music scene as a whole,” says drummer Sam Whelton. “As someone who has been operating in the music industry for half of my life, it has been saddening to recognize the absence of support and the abundance of undermining throughout the metal-core community in recent years. With the release of this single, we encourage all of you to be the main character in your own story, instead of an actor in ours.” For the first time ever, Saving Vice have completed every aspect of music recording and production in-house, and they’re incredibly proud of the results. Guitarist Robbie Litchfield had this to say on the process, “When a band makes a big return – especially to kick off a new album cycle – you want your material to be an upgrade in every way possible, so there was definitely a lot of pressure for me to get everything perfect in terms of the song’s production and mix, the latter being something I’d never done for an A-side Saving Vice release before. It was also very challenging to work “in the dark” and have a limited pool of people to talk with about it, but I can’t express how rewarding it feels to have it finally released to the world and have Saving Vice officially back on the grid.” |
