The London-based Israeli singer-songwriter and band leader Noga Ritter has released her debut solo album digitally today. Entitled ‘Ima’, the CD format will follow on 9th June, with a special live event to launch it taking place at The Forge in Camden, north London on 12th June.

Joining Ritter on stage will be several of the greatest talents in today’s Jazz and global music scene, most of whom have played a role in creating the magical sound heard on ‘Ima’. Her band includes Tomer Eldor (piano), Basil Petite (bass), Maurizio Ravalico (percussion), Giuliano Osella (drums), Alessandro (guitar), Dembis Thioung (percussion), plus a trio of world-class award-winning horn players in Tony Kofi (tenor sax), Byron Wallen (trumpet) and Patrick Kenny (trombone).

Co-produced by Ritter and the acclaimed composer, band leader and bass player Liran Donin, ‘Ima’ brings together more than a dozen international musicians to present her unique fusion of ‘Hebrew Jazz’ and global grooves. Soaring trumpet solos over Gnawa grooves, Jewish melodies backed with Senegalese sabar drums and blissful kora improvising alongside subtle Israeli jazz piano are just a few of the colours she has used to paint her musical stories in this remarkable body of work.

Since launching her solo project in late 2018, Ritter has performed around the UK, including a sold-out show at the 2022 edition of the EFG London Jazz Festival. She has also recently appeared on BBC1 morning TV [video] to promote ‘Ima’.

Ritter had previously released the 2016 album ‘L’Odyssey’ and toured internationally with her former project Vocal Global, attracting positive notices from publications such as Songlines and fRoots. She has performed and recorded with a diverse array of artists, including Grand Union Orchestra, Jyotsna Srikanth, Mike King Collective, Sura Susso, Lambrego and Randolph Matthews, appearing at venues such as the Royal Festival Hall, Hackney Empire and Shoreditch Town Hall, plus events like Cambridge Festival and London International Arts Festival.

Ritter’s travels have also resulted in collaborations that have seen her record and/or perform in Senegal, Israel and Palestine, Argentina, Brazil, Sierra Leone and mainland Europe, singing in several different languages and styles. Her passion for music is also evident from years of workshop leading and facilitating since graduating with an MA from Guildhall School of Music.
