GENDO IKARI will release their debut album, ROKUBUNGI, independently on 01 September

Glasgow grindcore/noise rock group GENDO IKARI will release their debut album, ROKUBUNGI, independently on 01 September on CD, cassette, and digital.
Based in the central belt of Scotland, GENDO IKARI unites members from diverse musical ventures: Civil Elegies (Glasgow noise rock), Ashenspire (avant-garde black metal), Haar (Edinburgh atmospheric black metal), and Hard Stare (Glasgow hardcore). Since their formation in 2016, the quartet has run their creative engine at full throttle, releasing a handful of splits and EPs, playing festivals such as Obscene Extreme, Chimpyfest, and Dreadfest, and gracing stages alongside Full of Hell, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Coilguns and, Pig Destroyer.

ROKUBUNGI, the debut full-length of GENDO IKARI, is 25 minutes of furious noisy grind, spanning 15 songs with chainsaw guitars, bludgeoning bass, savage drumming, and brutal vocals. With influences like Discordance Axis, Pig Destroyer, Fantomas, and Korn, the album combines the band’s influences together with their chemistry to create a formidably punishing sound. ROKUBUNGI represents the unhinged sound of the band’s chemistry, with a DIY approach to everything: the album was recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely by the band themselves. The band has embraced electronics and samples on the album to expand their sonic palette, adding an extra dimension to their warped soundscape.

Lyrically, ROKUBUNGI explores forced emotional conscription within society’s final refuge, representing the last chance for voices to be heard. The songs delve into a range of aspects that shape human existence, from the ever-changing nature of modern culture to the emotional bombardment that we all experience.

Glasgow hometown show on 08 September will serve as the album release show, with support from the brutal death metal band Iniquitous Savagery and more. GENDO IKARI also announced two other shows: Sonic Dissonance (Edinburgh) on 15-16 September and Built to Blast (Leeds) on 03-04 November 2023.
