LOS ANGELES, CA –– JUNE 24, 2021 –– Dirty Heads, the Cali reggae-influenced band behind the viral TikTok hit “Vacation,” today released a new single “Life’s Been Good” via Better Noise Music, along with an official music video. The track is a breezy new cover of Joe Walsh’s 1978 original that poked fun at the antics and excesses of rock stars. It’s dropping just in time for summer as the overall vibe of the song inspires listeners to kick back, relax, and head into a carefree Dirty Heads summer. This spring, the band released new remixes of their massive hit single “Vacation” with producers such as Borgeous and DJ KØLAand an acoustic version of the track after the #VacationTransition challenge went viral on TikTok, amassing over 378 MILLION streams and over 5 BILLION consumption plays across all social media platforms. Today they will also be kicking off their Let’s Get It Kraken Tour in Seattle, then heading to other cities such as Salt Lake City, Dallas, Boca Raton, Milwaukee, and New York before finishing out in Chicago on August 12. Lead singer Jared Watson commented on their new single, ““Life’s Been Good” is the perfect follow up to “Vacation.” It just felt right. If you like the vibe of “Vacation,” if that song impacted your life in a positive way, this is a continuation of that feeling. And I think the story of enjoying life is really what Dirty Heads are all about.”

The band premiered the official music video for the track today as well. Directed and written by the band themselves alongside Black Tee Media’s Jay Teegardin, the video is satirical, capturing the band relaxing in the mountains and the ocean, but ending in tragedy.

They teased fans ahead of their next full-length project, with a reflective compilation album The Best of Dirty Heads last summer, where they joined forces with legendary drummer Travis Barker and Aimee Interrupter of The Interrupters on a song called “Rage.” The song was received positively, with Billboard writing that the collaboration “gives the band’s signature reggae rock sound a new gritty punk flavor.”

Dirty Heads will be bringing their hybrid alternative sound and good vibes to amphitheaters nationwide this summer. They will be joined by GRAMMY-nominated group SOJA as they reconnect with fans on the road. Enjoy a great night of Dirty Heads’ signature alt rock/reggae/hip-hop stylings starting tonight in Seattle, with Tribal Seeds, Artikal Sound System, and The Elovaters also joining the tour as support on select dates. ABOUT DIRTY HEADS

Since 2003, Dirty Heads have mixed hip-hop, reggae, and rock to create a unique sound that both fully embodies their Southern California roots and resonates with audiences around the globe.

The band’s global appeal reached new heights in 2021, when their hit “Vacation” (originally released in 2017) garnered over four billion views and streams across social media via the ubiquitous #VacationTransition challenge that originated organically with users on TikTok. The song, with an increase of 850% in consumption on Spotify in the past year, took on a new life in many ways, introducing Dirty Heads to new international fans by the millions. They celebrated   with a series of remixes and new renditions of the track to kick-off summer 2021, and by announcing their The Best of Dirty Heads album, arriving July 16, 2021 via Better Noise Music, which will take a retrospective look at their career thus far.

Nearly twenty years ago, the group formed when punk rocker Dustin Bushnell (aka Duddy B) asked his friend, rapper Jared Watson (aka Dirty J), to collaborate on a project that would focus on positive vibes and infectious grooves. Watson added singing to his vocal skills, and with percussionist Jon Olazabal, an acoustic trio version of Dirty Heads began playing shows and building an audience.

In 2008, their acclaimed album Any Port in a Storm, with a deluxe edition following in 2010. The deluxe version featured the track “Lay Me Down” with special guest Rome Ramirez of Sublime with Rome. The song reached number one on Billboard’s Alternative Songs in May 2010, and nine weeks later it established a record as the song with the longest stint atop the chart for an independently released title.

They followed up two years later with Cabin by the Sea and later recorded an acoustic version of the title track. This, in turn, led to an entire acoustic album in 2013 called Home: Phantoms of Summer. Dirty Heads’ next album, Sound of Change, would prove to be a breakthrough for the now-veteran band, debuting at number eight on the Billboard Top 200 while topping the Independent and Alternative Albums charts upon its May 2014 release.

Building on their renewed success, Dirty Heads enlisted a bevy of industry hitmakers to work on their self-titled 2016 follow-up, which — thanks to its mainstream appeal — again charted high on the Billboard Top 200. The following year saw the band drop its sixth studio album, Swim Team, featuring the singles “Vacation,” in its original form, and “Staloney.”

Inspired by current events and the fan interpretations of their music in the #VacationTransition challenge, the band is hard at work on new music. Their sound has evolved and they will tease the result of their new creative energy on The Best Of compilation, including a new collaboration with Travis Barker and Aimee Interrupter of The Interrupters. They’ll also bring that energy to stage this summer on their co-headlining “Let’s Get It Kraken Tour” with SOJA.
