Having burst onto the scene in 2014, I Prevail have not followed the generic script and is comfortable using numerous different genre influences as they look to enhance Heavy Rock to a whole new level.
Clearly, this approach works as the band have now hit 2.7 billion streams and now the Platinum-certified and twice GRAMMY nominated Michigan rockers are about to drop their latest offering with the hope that this will push them to a whole new level in the Rock world.
So, what have the four-piece been to the world to help to truly put them at the arena and then potentially festival headliners?
True Power is made up of 15 tracks many of which may add to the already Gold and Platinum singles that the band already have and are going to sound massive on their upcoming UK tour that will take place in March 2023.
Opening with ‘0-00’, a 42-second intro, you can just feel something huge is building as the effects build the suspense, before ‘There’s Fear In Letting Go’ continues to build that feeling before the chorus erupts with a clean vocal over the top of some heavy riffs.
The inclusion of the more abrasive vocals in the verse help to provide another aspect to the sound with the result sound huge and just what you’d hope for.
This combination of massive guitars with electronic-sounding beats that are then mixed with either a souring vocal or an aggressive growling spit of vocals really builds a massive atmosphere and before you know what is going on, you are singing along with the clean vocals as you are instantly hooked.
The album feels like is continues to build and until it is about to explode, something which when throwing in the more rap style delivery of the vocal, you just end up letting it all out.
True Power is one of the best albums that would fit into this more mainstream sound than what I usually listen to, but shit, it’s a lot of fun. The fact that so many genres are mixed in with the searing guitars and huge vocals whether that clean or harsh and sometimes as music lovers, we just need to enjoy great music no matter what genre it fits in.
I Prevail have created a stunning blend of influences and put them together perfectly to put together what is an album that should push them to the highest echelons of heavy music.
