Ho99o9 // Tomorrow We Escape // Album review

8

Having burst onto the scene in 2017 with the full-length debut United States of Horror and backing it up with incredible live performances – sharing stages with Rob Zombie, Ministry, Cypress Hill, Ghostface Killah and more, the duo have rarely stopped making their unique brand of music.

Having released SKIN in 2022, theOGM and Yeti Bones continue to blur the lines of genres between hardcore, hip hop, punk, metal, industrial and a fuck ton of other sounds that don’t need to be listed as they are another string to the bow of the band.

Having approached this latest album with the mindset of wanting to make more relatable songs, Ho99o9 knew that the songs were going to hit home, and now it’s up to the listener to decide how they relate the songs to their lives.

The album itself is 11 tracks that stretch across 36 minutes, and immediately you are struck by the raw sound, industrial production and almost DIY finish. This is the intended feeling however and the reverb being turned up allows for that to take charge and as we head into ‘Escape’ that blend of sound, genres and effects is in full force as you get the guitars, drums and vocal behind this murky finish and then when the singing is joined by a more aggressive vocal and then to spitting rap you are slung in to Ho99o9.

As the album continues, you get the joys of cameos from MoRuf, Nova Twins, Pink Siifu & Yung Skrrt, Greg Puciato and Chelsea Wolfe as the incredible sounds continue to test the norm and push you out of your comfort zone in what is very much a sound and presentation like nothing else but full of energy. Having been lucky enough to see the band live, I can say that very few bands have this level of stage presence, and that is packed into the 11 tracks that make up Tomorrow We Escape.

This release will continue the incredible and unique offerings that have been released under the header of Ho99o9 and will also ensure that the band continue their reputation of not fitting the mould and not giving a fuck about it.

Any fans of Ho99o9 and those who like to test themselves with sounds and genres, you have to give this a go. It is definitely one that is going to get added to my vinyl collection.

Tomorrow We Escape was released on 9th September 2025 via 9999 Deathkult/Lang Gang.
