Belgian thrash masters Evil Invaders are back with their third full-length album “Shattering Reflection” on the 1st of April; a cracking concoction of speed, thrash and balls-out metal for your listening pleasure. “HIssing In Crescendo” opens the album in a lightning fashion, a blistering drum beat backed up by chugging riffs and thumping bass with Joe tearing it up on vocals like a cross between Rob Halford and Zetro, some killer guitar work at the backend of the track really makes it an excellent start.
“Die For Me” comes in hot on its heels with a nice riff opening it up with Joe snarling his way into the track, as the tempo builds with a massive drum beat and speedy riffs you get a banger of a tune, the vocals are amazing while a cool solo runs out the track. “In Deepest Black” is a power ballad in typical style with drums going from soft to crushing, strummed guitars to sharp loud riffs and a rumbling bass as Joe runs the range expertly from falsetto to snarling, the solo mid-way through is brilliant and just adds to an amazing track that even gives a nod to Megadeth towards the end with some of the riffs. “Sledgehammer Justice” brings the power and speed back to full tilt with a thundering sonic assault of drums and galloping riffs, Joe screams and snarls his way through the song with menace as all hell breaks loose around him, much like in the title this is a sledgehammer to the chest and absolutely savage track. “Forgotten Memories” is a grinding song with heavy riffs, bass and a driving drum beat, what is sacrificed in speed is more than made up for in pure heaviness, a monster track. “Realm Of Shadows” is an atmospheric little interlude that runs nicely into “Eternal Darkness” a kick-ass thrasher that is as ferocious as it is fast, heavy drums and gritty riffs are the order of the day with Joe tearing the throat out of himself as he screams and roars his way through the song, a rumbling bassline runs underneath it all giving it a solid platform, the guitars are once again immense with some serious fretwork by Max.
“My World” is a mid-tempo number that sees Joe menacingly snarl his way through the track, chugging riffs underpin the song’s power backed up by a slow staccato drumbeat, as the song hits the midpoint the intensity increases tenfold with a killer solo and pounding drums before dropping back down, a brilliant track. “Aeon” is an amazing instrumental that allows you to sit back and enjoy the sheer talent of the band in a nice calm fashion before all hell breaks loose with the album closer “The Circle”, starting out as a mid-tempo stomp fest with Joe snarling and growling like a madman, the track seesaws back and forth pace-wise until midway through whereupon it descends into a thrashing animal with some ripper guitar work and a savage solo as it runs out in a slow heavy barrage, an absolute cracker.
