Bodysnatcher // Hell Is Here, Hell Is Home // Album Review

8

It is fair to say that Bodysnatcher are a busy band working to create music and bring it to life on stage.

Having released Death of Me in 2017, The Heavy Void in 2020, Bleed-Abide in 2022 and Vile Conduct in 2024 and been on the road in Australia with Fit For An Autopsy, then to Europe and the UK with Ingested and then on to North America with Thy Art Is Murder – the band are going all out and from this release it feels like the band should be in high demand.

Bodysnatcher is not a band I was familiar with, but I must admit it is now changing. The 10 tracks by the four-piece deathcore band from Melbourne, FL have opened my ears to their incredibly violent and rather dark brand of music, and it’s something I definitely get behind.

From the beginning, with scything guitars, chugs, slapping bass, and blistering drum work, combined with a vocal you would hope for, when it is all thrown into the mixer, this shit breaks bones.

There is no doubt that this is firmly on the brutal end of the scale and as the band warn you in the opener ‘The Maker’, “are you scared, you fucking should be” If you’re not ready for this, then it’s going to be like going through the windscreen of a car at 90mph.

As the album progresses, that high octane, all out assault doesn’t waiver as the chainsaw slashes at your skin and takes chunks of flesh and bone with it, spraying blood across the walls and as you drift into the darkness you just see your blood bearing smeared across the walls, in the words of Bodysnatcher on ‘Violent Obsession’ – “you are nothing but a fucking crime scene”

Hell Is Here, Hell Is Home is more than an album title; the whole album feels like it is about being in a dystopian hole of punishment and despair, having experienced some of the most violent and unexplainable acts, and this is the narration.

Be prepared for uncomfortable content, disturbing sounds, and a fucking amazing album that will be in repeat, and for others who are uneducated in the ways of Bodysnatcher, reach for the back catalogue and get fully on board.

I must also admit I’m gutted I missed them on the UK tour, but I won’t be making that mistake again.

Hell Is Here, Hell Is Home will be released on Friday, 10th April 2026 via MNRK Heavy.
