Of the tour and new single, Benjamin says:

Acclaimed for his live shows and their intimate, honest atmosphere, Benjamin Francis Leftwich has always given his material a fresh perspective when adapting them for the stage. As well as older fan favourites, Leftwich will also be performing songs from his recently announced new album ‘Some Things Break’.
Forthcoming album ‘Some Things Break’ consists of ten brand new tracks, all written and performed by Leftwich and follows his previous album ‘To Carry A Whale’, released in 2021.
It sees a subtle reinvention in Benjamin Francis Leftwich’s sound and the honesty laid bare in the album’s lyrics. Of this new direction, Leftwich says:
“It feels like a new voice, in a way. I guess a more human and perhaps a more surrendered voice. Learning to hold on to certain things and let go of others with as much grace as possible…I feel like I’m hiding less on this record. Ultimately I think it’s a record about a kind of slow acceptance that some things break and for me…. sometimes that’s necessary for healing”.
Tracklist for ‘Some Things Break’ by Benjamin Francis Leftwich is as follows:
- I’m Always Saying Sorry
2. Moon Landing Hoax
3. Break In The Weather - New York
5. Some Things Break
6. Spokane, Washington 7. God’s Best
8. A Love Like That
9. Only You
10. Don’t Give Up On Light
‘Some Things Break’ was written over the course of the past two years at locations across the globe including London, Nashville, Washington and Stockholm. It was produced by Grammy Award-winning producer Jimmy Hogarth, who has also produced for the likes of Amy Winehouse, Sia, Anohni & The Johnsons and more. ‘Some Things Break’ also features collaborations with fellow songwriters including Mikky Ekko, The 1975’s Jamie Squire, Jon Green and more. The album was mixed by Jonathan Gilmore and mastered by Robin Schmidt.
As well as a broader range in Leftwich’s voice, ‘Some Things Break’ features a richer instrumentation as compared to the more stripped-back sound of his earlier work. Benjamin’s unmistakable acoustic guitar playing remains present throughout, but is at times backed with sounds of piano, choirs, subtle drum beats and effects that altogether help create a dense and layered soundscape for his candid, vulnerable lyrics.
Aside from his own material, Benjamin’s songwriting, co-writing and collaboration with other songwriters and artists has grown and evolved hugely over the past few years. Artists he has written with recently include The 1975, Nick Mulvey, Jasmine Jethwa, Rachel Chinouriri, CMAT and Holly Humberstone.
Benjamin Francis Leftwich is a highly-acclaimed York-born singer and songwriter and the first act to be signed by Dirty Hit Records. His first album ‘Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm’ debuted in the UK Top 40 in 2011. It included the hit singles ‘Atlas Hands’ and ‘Shine’ and was praised by fans and critics alike for the new artist’s disarming honesty and his lyrics were lauded for their candidness and vulnerability. His arrival heralded a boom in the UK singer-songwriter scene, and along with a tropical house remix by then-new DJ-producer Kygo, lead to Leftwich being a stalwart on radio stations and festival stages across the country.
Following a 5 year hiatus, Leftwich returned with new album the 2016 album ‘After The Rain’, a critically acclaimed album dubbed “fragile, precious, oddly comforting” by The Guardian in their 4-star review of the album. He followed that with third album ‘Gratitude’ in 2019, which was deemed “graceful and honest” by DIY Magazine, before releasing 2021’s ‘To Carry A Whale’. The record was met with critical praise, with CLASH Magazine declaring Leftwich “a master at sculpting gentle soundscapes that deliver raw reflections”.
Benjamin Francis Leftwich’s new album ‘Some Things Break’ will be released Friday 9th February via Dirty Hit. New single ‘Moon Landing Hoax’ is out now.
