Keanan Eksteen’s Long-Awaited Album “Starring” Is Out Now
Cape Town rock and roll outfit Keanan Eksteen celebrates the release of their highly anticipated album, Starring, a collection of fan favourites that marks a major milestone in the band’s journey with their first-ever vinyl release.
After four years of relentless touring across South Africa and Europe, Starring brings together 11 of the band’s most-loved tracks, including crowd favourites “Dixie Clouds,” “Golden Fever,” and “Myself,” alongside two brand-new songs, “Famous” and “Born to Die.” To mark the occasion, the official music video for “Famous” will premiere on YouTube at 9:00pm (SAST) tonight.
Responding to years of requests from their dedicated fanbase, Starring is available on vinyl for the very first time. The album has also been released on cassette, CD, Dolby Atmos, and all major digital streaming platforms, offering fans a variety of ways to experience the band’s signature retro rock and roll sound.
Produced by Jeremy Farber at For Tomorrow Studios, with songwriting contributions from Armand “ADV” de Vries, the album captures the energy and spirit that has made Keanan Eksteen one of South Africa’s most exciting live acts.
Speaking about the release, frontman Keanan Eksteen says: “A vinyl is a dream for any musician. It’s something I always hoped we’d have one day, and after years of fans asking for it, it’s finally here. Starring is a celebration of our journey so far—a collection of the songs people have connected with the most, plus two brand-new tracks. This isn’t a ‘vibes on the couch’ album; it’s a ‘move it or lose it’ album.”
Producer and manager Jeremy Farber adds: “Over the last four years we’ve played around 150 shows locally and internationally, and one of the questions we were asked most often was when we’d release a vinyl. We selected the songs that had become fan favourites and added two new tracks to create what we feel is a really strong body of work. We’re incredibly excited that fans can finally get the record they’ve been asking for.”
Following today’s release, the band will embark on another European tour in August before returning home for a second South African launch show at Railways in Pretoria later in the month.
With its infectious hooks, timeless rock and roll spirit, and celebration of everything that has brought the band to this point, Starring is both a love letter to Keanan Eksteen’s loyal supporters and an exciting introduction for new listeners discovering the band for the first time.
