“Ms* Gloom is the Gossip Girl-obsessed alt-pop star of the future” – DAZED
“she sings with a starlet’s naivete as a cavalcade of beats explode around her” – The FADER
“romanticism in reverb-smothered lyrics” – The Face
“unrelenting, visceral digitalism, blended to a savage pop touch.” – Clash
“each track feel like it contains a multitude of worlds” – The Line Of Best Fit

Ever since her emergence proper last year, LA based enigma Ms* Gloom has been in constant transition; gradually unfurling layers and emerging from beyond a veil of glacial textures and swathes of reverb. Shedding preconceptions and a previous alias in the process, the artist formerly known as Joon Gloom has carved out a lush, imaginative lane within the world of left-field electro-pop; one that speaks to the postmodern tastes of not only her rapidly expanding following, but her own influences. After viral singles such as ‘Something To Hold Onto’ and the gorgeous layered pop of ‘Joker’ and ‘Got It In Tha Mix’, and the synth laden bounce of ‘Dumb 4 All’, today Ms* Gloom finally unveils her first look at the full scope of her vision in the form of highly anticipated debut mixtape, J Is For Joon.

J Is For Joon marks Ms* Gloom’s true emergence from her chrysalis with an engrossing, beguiling opening statement that chronicles a vivid period of personal and artistic growth. A defiant exercise in world-building produced solely by Ms* Gloom and Silent$kyJ Is For Joon explores identity and autonomy through a metaphorical lens, with Ms* Gloom battling an omnipresent voice named Mr. Gloom that aims to control her across the project’s 16 tracks.

Reflecting a real life battle to express her true self that existed until the project’s inception, J Is For Joon delves into every facet of Ms* Gloom’s musical expression; traversing pop, electronica, forward-thinking club sounds, ambience and so much more to result in the real-world blossoming of the person that Ms* Gloom has always wanted to be. Bristling with wonder, invention and an ever-growing sense of confidence, the project feels like the making of a new star in avant-garde pop, mapping out a new blueprint for the genre along a road less travelled.

A wildly imaginative opening chapter in what promises to be a genuinely enchanting discography, J Is For Joon is not only an incredibly accomplished debut project, but also a rare example of an artist completely assured within their own identity so early in their career, ready and eager to upend the status quo with every new chapter.

To celebrate the release of J Is For Joon, Ms* Gloom will perform at two very special debut live shows in New York and LA. Limited tickets are available HERE.
