| Emerging from Los Angeles at the beginning of 2025, Ms* Gloom instantly began actualising a vivid, widescreen vision for electronic pop; committing it to tape with lush, inventive early singles such as ‘Jinx!’ and ‘Joker’. As the sound of her glacial, noirish electropop permeated the internet underground’s consciousness, so did her debut project J Is For Joon; an imaginative exercise in worldbuilding that used her wondrously immersive synth-driven sound to explore identity and autonomy through a metaphorical lens. Following on from this she unveiled J Is For Joon (RMX), a collection of reworks spanning tracks from her debut, leaning on the imaginations of the likes of Araabmuzik, Malibu, Quiet Light, Lust For Youth and more to expand the scope of her vision into uncharted territory. Today, Ms* Gloom unveils her first new music since the release of J Is For Joon, a brand new single titled ‘Duck Duck Goose’. Co-produced by Ms* Gloom, silent$ky and Woesum, ‘Duck Duck Goose’ is embodied by a gradually unfurling fusion of crystalline synths, diamond edged percussion and booming low-end, complete with Ms* Gloom’s almost stream of consciousness style flow over a skeletal but propulsive drum beat. Pairing self-assured flexes with tongue-in-cheek pop culture references with a simultaneously authoritative yet detached delivery, ‘Duck Duck Goose’ takes the dreamlike sound of Ms* Gloom’s previous work and places it at the forefront of the consciousness in a way that’s impossible to ignore. Easily Ms* Gloom’s most upfront and infectious work to date, ‘Duck Duck Goose’ acts as the opening of an exciting new era for Ms* Gloom – an artist who already sits at the apex of forward-thinking electronic pop that is now ready to step fully into the spotlight with a brand new facet of her sonic palette. With J Is For Joon, Ms* Gloom emerged from her chrysalis with a fully formed vision of her identity and sound. With ‘Duck Duck Goose’, Ms* Gloom is adding even more bite to that identity, and with it, introducing a dynamic sense of power to an already instantly recognisable sound. It’s only a matter of time before she reveals even more. |
