Today, Tommy WÁ has announced his new EP Somewhere Only We Go. The Ghana based, Nigerian born artist’s first full release for Dirty Hit. It is a collection of songs that is the perfect introduction to his world and is set to cement his reputation as a special voice in contemporary music.

The announcement is supported by the release of his new song “Keep On Keeping On”, which is emblematic of his gift for writing open-hearted and immediate songs that blend Western African influences to a wholly original effect and are destined to find him a wider audience than ever before.

Explaining the meaning behind the track Tommy says, “This song explores what it means to be confident in patience and offers a graceful reflective template for the nuances that may surround a person’s life.”

Tommy has recently completed a run of UK shows including performances at The Great Escape and Dot To Dot festivals and will be embarking on a June tour in support of Macy Gray ahead of UK festival dates across July.

Somewhere Only We Go is five tracks of deft songwriting, fusing bright melodies with inventive, heartfelt narratives and it is the clearest representation of Tommy’s talent to date. Stay tuned for more news.

Tommy WÁ bio

A whole multitude of worlds exist within the music of Tommy WÁ, one of the most special new voices to have emerged in recent years. Drenched in beauty and meaning, the music of the Nigerian-born, Ghana-based artist recalls the glistening atmospheres of Bon Iver and Michael Kiwanuka but has its roots in the African folk music of the mid-20th century. Presented through pristine hooks and vivid storytelling, it’s music that straddles eras, styles and continents, but has universality at its core. He is a songwriter with an irresistible, honeyed voice and a knack for immediate hooks.
