The Sleeping release new album I Feel Like I’m Becoming a Ghost

The Sleeping release new album I Feel Like I’m Becoming a Ghost

Start tour with Sunny Day Real Estate tonight

STREAM:  I Feel Like I’m Becoming A Ghost
    WATCH: “Tainted”
    WATCH: “No Light”

The Sleeping – Douglas Robinson (vocals), Joe Zizzo (drums), Sal Mignano (bass), and Cameron Keym (guitar/keys) – have released their fifth album, I Feel Like I’m Becoming A Ghost, out now. Taking their post-hardcore and alternative roots and blending it with a post-punk influence, the band has created a dynamic and emotive ten tracks. You’ll hear thick, groove filled bass tones complimented by dance-ready keys. Heavier moments backed by pummeling drums and creative riffs that provide an inate chaos and energy. Throughout it all is Robinson’s impassioned vocal delivery that offers the listener sincere, emotional connectivity in every line. Whether a long-time fan of the band or a first introduction, the album is primed to keep your attention and ultimately presents The Sleeping in their most authentic state.

The band will celebrate the record release by joining Sunny Day Real Estate on the east coast leg of their tour, starting tonight in Portland, ME. Full dates below.

On releasing the new album, the band states:

“We wrote and recorded all 11 songs over 2 weeks last September in Woodstock, relying on the creative chemistry that was still there, after 20 years.

Anxieties, reminiscing about our youths, the struggles of wanting to make something of ourselves – we now see how much of a toll it takes on someone as an adult…. and this record revolves around all of this.”

The Sleeping first broke out in 2003, and led an impactful career releasing four albums and touring with fellow Long Island, NY acts like Taking Back Sunday and Bayside. The band’s music has been featured in video game soundtracks like Guitar Hero, Madden, and FIFA, and their single “Don’t Hold Back” remains an emo staple. Fast forward to today and the band are feeling as vigorous and creative as ever. Heading into writing I Feel Like I’m Becoming a Ghost, The Sleeping’s only goal was to make a high energy, refreshing record based off the natural chemistry of the band. Marking their fifth album (following 2010’s The Big Deep) and first with Keym since the 2006 record Questions and Answers, it was important for the band, take the sound they were known for and build it into something new. Venturing into Applehead Studios in Woodstock, NY, it only took them two weeks to write and record the ten songs that appear on the album. I Feel Like I’m Becoming a Ghost was produced by the band alongside the dynamic duo Mike Birnbaum and Chris Bittner (Coheed & Cambria, Medeski, Team Sleep) and mastered by Chris Athens (Beastie Boys, Blink 182).
