Wolf Alice return with a five-track EP Blue Lullaby, a reimagining of some of their tracks off Blue Weekend which was their Mercury Nominated third album.
Wolf Alice has been making serious waves over recent years and their highly anticipated third album was as expected well received and highly regarded by both the press and fans alike, so the new EP will also be a welcome addition to an already mesmerising catalogue for such a young band. Nothing seems to phase them, steamrolling ahead taking it all in their stride with youthful exuberance it is hard not to admire them for that alone.
Fresh off the Glastonbury stage and riding the wave that currently surrounds them the Blue Lullaby EP is exactly what the doctor ordered, a beautifully simple reimagining of five tracks that just reinforce the quality that Wolf Alice has in spades. Five tracks that will transport you out of whatever headspace you are in and carry you away to whatever headspace you want to be in. It’s a beautiful piece of work to calm the mind and lose yourself in all be it for a short while.
I have always been a fan of bands taking an unplugged approach to their own music, seeing how a band can deconstruct and reconstruct their own work is a fantastic thing, from bands like Incubus to Pearl Jam and Nirvana they have created some fan favourites in their own right and I am sure the Blue Lullaby EP will be no different for the Wolf Alice fans too.
It is a remarkable piece of work and one that as a stand-alone recording deserves recognition if you are an established fan of the band you will undoubtedly love this, if you have yet to delve into the world of Wolf Alice there could be no better place.
Blue Lullaby is out now.

Wolf Alice are also one of a small handful of artists to be nominated for the Mercury Prize for each album they have released. Blue Weekend continued the band’s stretch of success by debuting at #1 on the UK charts on release and winning the Brit Award for Best Group earlier this year.
