After launching his first ever archive collection ‘New Arrangements And Duets’ with the track ‘Choppin’ Wood’Van Morrison now provides another preview of what to expect with a new version of ‘You Gotta Make It Through The World’. Listen HERE.

The original version of ‘You Gotta Make It Through The World’ opens Van Morrison’s 1977 album ‘Period of Transition’. A song about survival and endurance, it encourages us to stay true to our own path and beliefs as we navigate our lives – regardless of other people’s opinions. The spirit of the message feels just as important now as it first did almost fifty years ago as Van Morrison revisits it in a new big band arrangement.

As the title suggests, the upcoming album is split between two different approaches. The new arrangements are all big band interpretations which were chosen by Van Morrison’s musical director / pianist Paul Moran and his former live band saxophonist Chris White, and recorded in 2014. The duets highlight an array of leading vocalists in the shape of Kurt EllingCurtis StigersJoss Stone and Willie Nelson, all of which were all recorded in 2018 and 2019. The two Willie Nelson duets – ‘What’s Wrong With This Picture’ and ‘Steal My Heart Away’ – also feature guitar courtesy of Lukas Nelson of Promise of the Real.

Set to be released on September 27th‘New Arrangements and Duets’ is available to pre-order HERE. It is available on CD, limited edition orange double-vinyl, and standard black double-vinyl. The first 300 vinyl and bundle purchases will also receive a signed print.
