After returning triumphantly last year with their first album in over a decade, Pennsylvania alternative group Superheaven have been on something of a victory lap. Touring globally in support of their self-titled third studio album, the band have headlined the largest venues of their career, with excitement over their newer material matching the furore of their already genre-defining classics. Today, ahead of headline runs across the US, Canada and UK this summer, Superheaven share Live In Austin, a trio of live recordings shared to celebrate the 11 year anniversary of their second album, Ours Is Chrome. Released digitally and on limited 7” vinyl after a huge Ours Is Chrome anniversary show this past weekend at Philadelphia’s Union Transfer venue, Live In Austin captures the innate force of a Superheaven live show. True to the original recordings, but with an added warmth and atmosphere, album standouts ‘Leach’, ‘Downswing’ and ‘Poor Aileen’ are spotlightlighted – showcasing the immersive but driving nature of Superheaven as they’re meant to be experienced. Recorded by Brigdon Markward and mixed and mastered by Ours Is Chrome producer Will Yip, Live In Austin is essential for original fans looking to experience classic Superheaven live cuts from the comfort of their own home, and for new fans who are impatiently waiting to catch one of contemporary alternative music’s most impactful live forces in the flesh. On the release of Live In Austin, Superheaven say:
“We wanted to do something special to celebrate the anniversary of Ours Is Chrome, so we are self releasing a 7” featuring three live songs taken from our set at Emo’s in Austin, TX on tour last year.
