| New Hampshire, US- indie/alt duo sugarpine have released their debut single LEAVES- listen HERE Formed by lifelong friends Brian MacDonald (PVRIS) and Sam Carpenter who met in sixth grade, the pair grew up together sharing school projects, skateboarding sessions and living among the forests and quiet towns of New Hampshire (NH)— that very landscape has left a lasting imprint on both their friendship and their music. The autumnal track LEAVES was built around capturing a sense of nostalgia from these old friends who grew up in NH whilst the song sonically lends itself to holding that feeling, creating something that feels both familiar and distant. It has the warmth, beauty, and bittersweetness that comes with fall in New England. There’s a sense of longing woven into the sound of the song, but it’s one that is rooted deeply in love… for their home, for the changing seasons and for the places and memories that continue to pull you back. “LEAVES was the first song and creative idea that we had as a duo. The song explores the concepts of moving through the world of New Hampshire, the state where we were raised, and what it’s like to either stay or go.” says the band. “In New England, there is a common saying that even if you move away, you’ll come back. For those of us raised in New Hampshire specifically, this saying rings loudly throughout our whole lives.” The video, which is made from real home movies and includes footage of their time growing up together is out now.
