Salos – Greek Post-Metal Duo Unveil New Lyric Video for “Slaughter” featuring Soilwork’s Björn Strid

Greek instrumental post-metal duo SALOS return with a powerful new version of “Slaughter,” now revealed through an official lyric video.

Originally one of the defining tracks from their debut album A Slaughter for the Empire, “Slaughter” has been reborn, this time breaking its silence with the unmistakable voice of Björn Strid from Soilwork and The Night Flight Orchestra.

Watch the lyric video for “Slaughter” now.

Once a purely instrumental force, “Slaughter” now takes on a new dimension, with Strid’s vocals cutting through the band’s monolithic riffs like a command, transforming the track into something even more intense, deliberate, and ritualistic. The result is a track that feels both expanded and sharpened, carrying not just sonic force, but intention.

As the band puts it: 🜁 THE RITUAL OF SLAUGHTER
“The fury of the empire. Crowned me blade, whispered taint.”

Released on March 13, 2026, A Slaughter for the Empire introduced SALOS as one of the most compelling voices in contemporary atmospheric post-metal, a cinematic, seven-track journey balancing expansive post-rock textures with crushing progressive heaviness.

Forged in atmosphere and restraint, A Slaughter for the Empire unfolds as a complete ritual: 34 minutes moving through stone, sea, stars, and collapse. Drawing on the expansive tension of God Is an Astronaut, the monolithic precision of Russian Circles, and the darker currents of progressive metal, SALOS craft music that breathes as much through silence as it does through impact.

Recorded at Eightyard Studios by Chris Vlachos, and mixed and mastered by Steve Lado, the record moves between earth-shaking heaviness and expansive sonic horizons. Synths are performed by Nikos Mavromatis (Nick Thurl of October Ends), while “Arches” features saxophone contributions from acclaimed Greek jazz musician Yiannis Kassetas, adding an unexpected human fragility to the record’s monumental scope. The album is now available here.

First conceived in 2016 and taking full shape in Kalamata, Greece in 2021, SALOS evolved from a singular vision into a fully realized practice. What began as an idea matured into a deliberate convergence of progressive metal architecture and post-rock atmosphere, forged in the liminal space between transcendent drift and crushing gravity.

The single is now available on all major streaming platforms.
