Omaha, NE —  Pop-rock band, Public Figure, are sharing their rock cover of, “Handlebars” originally preformed by Flobots ,on July 18. This is the band’s newest release since their newest single “Lindy” which followed swiftly behind their recently released tracks “Animals,” “Poor And Pretty.”

Public Figure puts a catchy rock spin on Flobots iconic track,”Handlebars.” The band drapes the song in gritty guitar tones and stand-out vocals while keeping the tracks original form intact.

“We covered “Handlebars” by Flobots a few times live, and each time, we got very high praise for the cover from the crowd. So we thought… “Why not record it?” In November of 2024, we reached out to Flobots about recording the “Handlebars” cover and releasing it. Flobots management was quick to respond and asked if we could provide a demo of the cover. When we got that email, we all looked at each other and were excited that they ACTUALLY responded to us. We quickly recorded a demo in Roger’s basement and shot it over to them. At first, we didn’t hear much back and thought, “Oh no, they probably hated it.” A Little time passed, and we got a response from them apologizing for not getting back as fast, as they were dealing with the fires in LA and mourning the passing of their touring bassist. Which… WOW! First off, they did not need to apologize for those things, and secondly, that apology, on top of them responding to us, really spoke volumes about how down-to-earth and awesome the Flobots are. In the SAME apology email, they said that they had all listened to the demo and that we had a “positive blessing from the band to move forward with it.” So, we hit up our guy Kevin W. Gates at REACH Audio based in Springfield, MO, and got to work. While recording the cover, we noticed that Barnato, a venue in Omaha, NE, was hosting a Flobots show. So, we reached out again, asking if we could get some pictures and honestly, it just felt right that we introduce ourselves in person if we were going to be releasing a cover of one of their biggest, if not the biggest, songs of theirs. The night was amazing, the show was incredible, and meeting them only further solidified our first impression of them being down-to-earth and awesome.” – Public Figure

Public Figure has recently shared the stage with Boys Like Girls and are set to play Good Life Records Fest in Omaha at the Slowdown on July 19. Tickets are now available.

About Public Figure: Public Figure is an alternative pop-rock band whose focus has been writing with the exclusive purpose of making their songs catchy and fun for themselves and their audience.
