| After revealing a true collision of the brutal and the beautiful in the form of critically acclaimed recent singles ‘The Door’ and ‘Pulling Apart’, UK alternative metal group Prodigal today release their debut EP, The Floating World, via Deep Love Recordings, In Bloom and Nu Metal Agenda Worldwide. Each of the EP’s six tracks represent a devastating evolution for the band, one that finds them experimenting with a beguiling, paradoxical sound and emerging alone within their own intense yet completely immersive lane. The Floating World is a hugely accomplished statement from a band whose consistent brilliance is finally beginning to transcend the underground towards something bigger. A large part of the project was recorded live with a few additions made after the initial recording to bolster their raw, dynamic sound; evidence of how their live show has to be seen to be truly believed. Recorded within their home surroundings of Stroud, UK, the isolation that permeated the sessions for The Floating World illustrates the tracks themselves; painting an image of something explosive and destructive, but with an undercurrent of euphoria and otherworldliness. Far from a project that explores its immersive and destructive moments in broad brushstrokes, The Floating World finds Prodigal displaying their innate creative and collaborative connection, working in tandem to blend polar opposite sonic worlds in unique and increasingly forward-thinking ways. No longer just a hidden secret on the UK alternative underground, Prodigal’s The Floating World is a genuinely singular work for a band who have been predicted by those in the know to deliver something special since their inception. Finally, Prodigal have released their defining statement up to this point, compounding waves of excitement and inviting all into The Floating World.
