| After revealing a true collision of the brutal and the beautiful in the form of critically acclaimed recent single ‘The Door’, UK alternative metal group Prodigal today return to announce a brand new EP, The Floating World. Due for release on October 2nd via Deep Love Recordings, In Bloom and Nu Metal Agenda Worldwide, the EP’s five tracks represent a devastating evolution for the band, one that finds them experimenting with a beguiling, paradoxical sound and emerging alone within their own intense yet completely immersive lane. Alongside the announcement of the EP, today Prodigal release a brand new single in the form of ‘Pulling Apart’. Opening to a piercing swell of feedback, ‘Pulling Apart’ bursts into life with blistering ferocity. A slow-slung cut of alternative metal complete with a true sense of urgency, the track’s bounding sense of rhythm raises pulses from the outset. Winding up the intensity to a true breaking point, ‘Pulling Apart’ falls away into a spacious, immersive cacophony of full-bodied, distorted guitar stabs, warm low-end, and gargantuan percussion, with vocalist Stan Kayley’s delivery weaving itself into the track’s sonic tapestry, merging with all around it to form a hypnotic soundscape. Deftly turning the screws on the fervour within the track, ‘Pulling Apart’ returns to its previously maniacal state, veering between lanes for the remainder of the track’s runtime for a white-knuckle ride that’s unlike anything to be experienced this year. The track’s video mirrors the song’s volatile atmospheres. A Blair Witch-esque trip through the Forest of Dean, the visual charts found footage recovered from around the time of the EP’s creation, with ‘Pulling Apart’ soundtracking the band’s descent into madness as their surroundings begin to consume them. It’s a psychedelic, dark journey into the minds of one of the UK’s most exciting new bands, with their twisted vision beginning to reveal itself further in the coming weeks. Due for release on October 2nd 2026 via Deep Love Recordings/In Bloom/Nu Metal Agenda Worldwide, Prodigal’s The Floating World is a hugely accomplished statement from a band whose consistent brilliance is finally beginning to transcend the underground towards something bigger. A large part of the project was recorded live with a few additions made after the initial recording to bolster their raw, dynamic sound; evidence of how their live show has to be seen to be truly believed. Recorded within their home surroundings of Stroud, UK, the isolation that permeated the sessions for The Floating World illustrates the tracks themselves; painting an image of something explosive and destructive, but with an undercurrent of euphoria and otherworldliness. No longer just a hidden secret on the UK alternative underground, Prodigal’s The Floating World is a genuinely singular work for a band who have been predicted by those in the know to deliver something special since their inception. Come October 2nd, Prodigal will release their defining statement so far, inviting all into The Floating World. Prodigal
