Speaking on the new track, guitarist Taylor Harper shares: “The song is a reflection of the subsequent self-loathing that results from fleeing difficult situations and the desperate yearning to have the courage to fight through these challenges. At times, it feels as though we are prisoners in our own minds, and no matter how much pain it causes us, we perpetuate a cycle of repeatedly feeling helpless and having no control of our own lives.”

Harper concludes: “Ultimately, the song culminates in a message of lifting yourself up and seizing opportunities rather than using your energy to worry. It’s a song about reforming yourself to believe and find a way.”

Hailing from Seattle, Oathbound bears the honest emotion that lay fundamental to the human experience. Heartbreak, loss, addiction, trauma and more are given center stage amidst a backdrop of progressive metalcore riffs and anthemic synths. The overarching messaging coming from the band’s formative work is that even through hardship there is always a silver lining and a life worth living.

Oathbound was born out of guitarist Taylor Harper’s yearning to reconnect with a creative energy that had long since gone dormant. having set his guitar aside to join the corporate ladder.

After the initial recruitment of family friend Viktor Schultz, Harper would go on to collar vocalist Kalyan Lopez, and the two agreed to meet at Lopez’s recording studio north of Seattle. These early interactions and the ideas that emanated from the visit would go on to form much of the band’s second single, “All For You”.

The addition of Rishab Thadani and John Padgett would go onto complete the line-up and Oathbound spent the end of 2023 through Spring ’24 recording debut EP, upcoming Until It’s Gone.

Following the release of debut output “Reflections”, and June’s “All For You”, “Anxiety” is a striking addition to the band’s early work. Dynamic instrumentation and potent breakdowns intertwine with Lopez’s whip sharp vocal. The newcomers deliver a striking and atmospheric brand of contemporary metalcore, but one that’s grounded in poignant and accessible storytelling.

Anxiety is out now.
