New York, NY (February 10, 2023) – Irish artist Talos today releases a new five-track EP, Nocturnes, a series of solo piano re-interpretations of songs from his back catalogue and one new song, Coniine.”

Talos on Nocturnes“A nocturne, in musical terms, is a piece of music that is inspired by or evocative of the night, typically made for piano. This EP is a night scene. It is a reframing of some of my older songs, recorded in the depths of winter and the emergence of one new piece, ‘Coniine.’ The songs were intended to feel like lullabies: close, small and searching.”

The reworks of older songs – to each his own, “In Time,” “Landscapes” and “Venice” draw from his three studio albums to date: his debut Wild Alee, 2019’s follow-up Far Out Dust and last year’s Dear Chaos, a record described by the Irish Times as a 4-star album containing “pop songs disrupted by beautiful, subliminal touches”.

Talos on “Coniine”: “The new piece, ‘Coniine’ was written with Doug Schadt and Nick Rayner and produced by Ross Dowling, who mixed and mastered the EP also. It is a song about restless youth, the feeling of wanting to escape and leave home, in the search for new space and new experience.”

Ahead of a series of live shows – both full band and solo – in the UK, France, Germany, Holland, Ireland and Switzerland, starting in March, Talos has been nominated for Artist of the Year at the prestigious Choice Awards in his native Ireland. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.

Talos is the Cork, Ireland-based artist, Eoin French. He released his debut album, Wild Alee, in 2017. Dubbed “a spectacularly assured debut deserving of a wide audience” by The Irish Times, it received a nomination for the Choice Music Prize in his native Ireland, and led to extensive touring in Ireland, the UK and Europe.

His second album, Far Out Dust, followed in 2019, broadening his fanbase (including a nod from a member of BTS) and leading to support tours with Aurora and Dermot Kennedy, alongside slots at the Bon Iver-helmed 37d03d/People festival in NYC, and a debut US TV appearance. His music has been featured in a number of high-profile US TV shows, including Siren, Prodigal Son and How To Get Away With Murder.
