Rising alternative stars South Arcade are starting 2024 with a bang with the release of their new single, Nepo Baby, available now via BKM and LAB Records HERE.
Nepo Baby is their first release of the year and the hard hitting song shows how they mean to go on. Written by the band and produced by guitarist Harry Winks, Nepo Baby is a tongue and cheek response to comments they received from fans online assuming they are an ‘industry plant’, when they in fact feel like outsiders to the music industry. The lyrics explore the theme of narcissism and nepotism while also having a playful angst against those who take themselves too seriously while trying to ‘make it’.
Speaking of the track, the four-piece say ”We’re absolutely buzzing to kick off our 2024 by releasing Nepo Baby! We’re so proud of this song and all the others we’ve been working on to make sure this year is packed full of new music. There’s no better feeling than playing these songs for our fans so our headline tour in March can’t come soon enough!”
Following a 3-date run of sold-out UK shows last year, the four-piece will be heading back out on the road for the Arc.Angel Tour, a run of 6 shows across the country in March 2024, hitting Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow before wrapping up at London’s The Underworld in Camden on the 20th March. Tickets are on sale now here. The band will also be supporting As Everything Unfolds on their UK tour in February.
While the band gears up for the tour, they continue to grow their fan base across the country after forming in 2021. With over 171k followers, 2.8 million likes and multiple viral videos on TikTok, the band have also built a strong reputation for their energetic live performances having supported the likes of Dead Pony, RØRY and Yours Truly. Reminiscent of the 2000’s pop rock era, which they are heavily inspired by, they have captured the Y2K nostalgia and aesthetic, while combining it with their modern production.
The release of Nepo Baby follows on from previous singles Silverlight, unaware, DANGER and their most streamed track to date, Sound Of An Empty Room, which has over 543k streams on Spotify alone. The Oxford-based band have received incredible support at radio, including plays on Radio 1 show’s, Jack Saunders Future Artists, Nels Hylton Future Alternative and were picked as Alyx Holcombe’s Track Of The Week with single Change Your Mind.
