Welsh titans, HIMALAYAS have recently announced a run of UK headline dates for June! They will kick things off at Sneaky Petes in Edinburgh on 16th June, before making their way around cities including Leeds, Newcastle, Nottingham, and will then wrap things up at Bristol’s Louisiana on 23rd June. Tickets are on sale now, here.

HIMALAYAS announced recently that they will support Emo darlings, Taking Back Sunday, at London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum on 27th March, and at Cardiff’s University Great Hall on 28th Hall. Buy tickets here. Next up, the Cardiff-based outfit support the mighty Foo Fighters on 25th June at the Principality Stadium, in their hometown. The quartet played live incessantly last year, including supporting alt/rock duo Loveless around Europe and the UK, two intimate packed out hometown shows in celebration of their album release, and festivals including Reeperbahn, Mad Cool and Reading & Leeds, to name a few.

Earlier this month saw them return with their anthemic single, V.O.V, which was co-written with none other than the legendary AC/DC frontman, Brian Johnson! The lyrics were gifted to the band via a mutual friend of them all, following Brian hearing the quartet’s music. Realising they were sitting on an opportunity of a lifetime, HIMALAYAS got to work on the song and finished writing it. Listen here.

Brian Johnson, frontman for AC/DC has said of the process, “When I was played their recordings, I immediately thought they were the perfect band for the song; the attack they bring to V.O.V is musical violence, brilliant!!”

Worthy of featuring in the soundtrack of a cinematic masterpiece, V.O.V was produced by the sought-after Dan Lancaster (Blink-182, Muse, Bring Me The Horizon), at Miloco studios. This was another huge tick for the HIMALAYAS bucket list.

The four-piece have said of the track, V.O.V is a song of resistance and struggle against violence and suffering. We wanted to talk of contrasting worlds and how the cracks between them are so readily paved over. Brian was really complimentary of our music and what we had achieved so far, something we were really grateful for.”

HIMALAYAS have also revealed the official music video, which sees the band performing the track in a dramatically lit room, occasionally plunging them into darkness. The visuals also see frontman Joe Williams immersing into a bath full of black water, perfectly complementing the track’s dark lyrics. Directed by Ted Clark of London Films, the video can be seen here.

Last year saw HIMALAYAS release their debut album, From Hell To Herewhich has racked up almost 20 million streams on Spotify alone, where the band have surpassed 70 million overall streams. The 12-track album, mixed by the GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dave Sardy (Royal Blood, Rage Against The Machine, Oasis), features previously released singles including Leave This Place, album title track From Hell To HereInto The TrapOut Of The Dark And Into The Light and Alone.

HIMALAYAS have garnered fantastic support across radio, and have received spins on BBC Radio One’s Rock show from Daniel P Carter and Alyx Holcombe, and from BBC Radio One’s Future Alternative host, Nels Hylton, who declared them “heirs to the indie rock throne”. The band have also previously been added to playlists such as Walk Like A Badass (2.3 million+ likes) and The Rock List (798k+ likes), on Spotify.
