“Delivered in with ferocity and with little time for pleasantries, Love Child is the kind of hardcore punk rock that delivers its powerful message in ten short, sharp punches.”V13

“An intoxicating, exciting album such as this is more than welcome and everything you could want from a present day Hardcore outfit.”Ghost Cult Magazine

“The SoCal trio deliver raw hardcore ragers that stick to the genre’s essence: aggressive instrumentals, snarling vocals, and bouncy energy that begs to be heard live.” The Pitch of Discontent

Southern California trio SWEAT are creating hardcore-punk with a rock and roll flair. Today the band release their sophomore album Love Child on Vitriol Records – ten lively, snarky, and aggressive tracks. Formed in 2019, SWEAT is comprised of vocalist Tuna Tardugno, guitarist/bassist Justin Smith, and drummer Anthony Rivera, who have spent time playing in bands including Dangers, Graf Orlock, and Dogteeth. For Love Child, the band entered the studio with with producer and sometimes second guitarist Jack Shirley at The Atomic Garden (Paint It Black, Gouge Away).

Addressing everything from healthcare to politics to their love of the hardcore scene, SWEAT are carving out a place for themselves in the alternative music landscape. Opener “Commercial Pleasure” leads off with a some gnarly guitars and sets the tone for Tuna’s snarling vocals found across the record. “Bad Taste” is set to be an intense circle pit starter, and “Physical” is primed for dancing at the band’s live shows. Closer “Predisposed Paranoia” is about moving forward from an ugly situation and being able to free your mindset, perfectly sending off the dynamism of the album.

On her lyrical delivery, Tuna expands:

“I think a lot of the feeling is the despair around the state of the world, and the internal struggles with rejection of growth or outside ideas. I, of course, add in a fair amount of sarcasm and resentment, especially around positions of and abuse of power.”

Driven by friendship and a love for music, SWEAT are declaring they are here to keep the originality flowing in hardcore with the release of Love Child. You can listen to the album HERE and vinyl is available HERE.
