THE GRANDMASTER Black Sun
Having debuted in 2021 with the explosive ‘Skywards’, a collaboration between German guitarist Jens Ludwig (Edguy) and Brazilian singer Nando Fernandes, Danish powerhouse vocalist Peer Johansson (Fate, Ureas, Pentakill) signs on for this follow-up. With infectious grooves again showing off Ludwig’s prowess via a series of rhythmic riffs and captivating solos, the stellar vocal performances delivered by one of the hard rock genre’s hidden gems are the icing on the cake. Ludwig states that “I’ve actually been a fan of Peer’s for decades and own all the Fate albums he was involved in,” while Johansson describes ‘Black Sun’ as “a fantastic collaboration. Jens’ guitar playing is absolutely mind-blowing. He plays like a musical deity and I feel honoured to be part of this extraordinary project.” This dynamic and captivating album will see in 2024 with a massive metallic bang.

COBRAKILL Serpent’s Kiss
Formed in 2020 and channeling the sound, attitude and ferocity of icons such as Mötley Crüe, Judas Priest, W.A.S.P., Lizzy Borden and RATT, Cobrakill’s ambitious goal was to reignite the flames of heavy metal’s glory years and conquer the world. Their rise to prominence has been marked by electrifying live performances of meticulously crafted songs, with fans often describing the experience as magical and akin to witnessing the young Mötley Crüe commanding the stage. Playful yet riveting, the band blend metal, rock, sleaze and glam into great songs that are not only redolent of the ‘80s, but remind listeners that rock n’ roll is very much still alive and kicking in 2024.

GOTUS Gotus
Gotus emerged in 2019 as a live project conceived by guitarist Mandy Meyer and drummer Pat Aeby. Boasting current and former members of Swiss rock giants Krokus, Gotthard and Storace, they regrouped in 2022 after a pandemic-induced hiatus with a solidified line-up that includes frontman Ronnie Romero, bassist Tony Castell (ex-Krokus, Crystal Ball) and keyboardist Alain Guy. The rhythm section had played a pivotal role in one of the most successful periods of Krokus’ career with the 2003 album ‘Rock The Block’, while Meyer’s return after two decades absence had further solidified their line-up. ‘Gotus’ delivers heartfelt hard rock that showcases the evolution and musical maturity of each band member, paying homage to Meyer’s extensive discography via well-chosen ‘covers’ but also exploring new terrain.

GRAND Second To None
A beacon of excellence even in the ultra-vibrant Swedish AOR scene, Grand is a trio combining the extraordinary vocal talent of high-pitched singer Mattias Olofsson, the multifaceted Jakob Svensson (ex-Wigelius) on guitar and keyboards, plus the versatile Anton Martinez Matz on drums and bass. They made an explosively grand entrance onto the scene in 2022 with an eponymous debut record influenced by legends such as Starship, Foreigner, Toto, Mr. Big and Giant that also resonated with Scandi-AOR aficionados in marrying subtly layered instrumental tracks with a stunning production job. ‘Second To None’ is a seamless follow-up, infusing their signature sound with added depth, sophistication and captivating nuances.
