THE BANISHMENT Machine And Bone
The Banishment began in the mid-2010s as a collaboration between guitarist George Lynch (Lynch Mob, The End Machine, ex-Dokken) and programmer/multi-instrumentalist Joe Haze (Primitive Race, Lords of Acid), with artist and vocalist Devix Szell joining the duo in 2020. ‘Machine And Bone’ is a brooding album of industrial rock and dream punk that nevertheless is peppered with explosive and psychotic yet bluesy guitar licks. It features guest vocal appearances by Tommy Victor (Prong) and Richard Patrick (Filter), with the former providing them with their name (‘The Banishment is a song by Prong).

SEVENTH CRYSTAL Wonderland
Having stormed onto the scene with debut effort ‘Delirium’ (2021), this follow-up takes everything up to another level on what is a classy slice of 21st century melodic hard rock by the Swedes. Initially founded by singer Kristian Fyhr (also of Perpetual Etude and Ginevra) as a solo project, he subsequently recruited other musicians to create a modern arena rock outfit who have drawn comparisons to Scandinavian contemporaries such as One Desire and H.E.A.T.

PHANTOM ELITE Blue Blood
Phantom Elite is fronted by Brazilian singer Marina La Torraca (Exit Eden, live vocalist for Avantasia), with guitarist Max van Esch and drummer Joeri Warmerdam. Founded by Dutch producer and former After Forever guitarist Sander Gommans (who remains involved with the group as an executive producer), the trio’s brand of modern metal fuses elements of metalcore with symphonic and progressive sounds to create a unique blend. This third album is being promoted with a European tour and sees them primed to establish themselves as a true force to be reckoned with.

STORMWARNING Stormwarning
Stormwarning is a new South American melodic hard rock act centred around Argentinian vocalist Santiago Ramonda and the Brazilian production duo of Sergio Mazul (Semblant) and Marcelo Gelbcke (Landfall), who previously oversaw the 2021 debut by Brazilian heavy metal project Icon Of Sin (also issued by Frontiers). A widely seen YouTube video posted by Ramonda led to him being introduced to Mazul and Gelbcke, both of whom had by coincidence begun working on a number of melodic-leaning songs. The stars thus aligned, Stormwarning was born.

TRANSWORLD IDENTITY Seven Worlds
Transworld Identity (T-ID) is a new Finnish hard rock band fronted by singer Mila Bosa. She is joined by drummer Lacu Lahtinen (who has been a member of both Hanoi Rocks and their vocalist Michael Monroe’s solo group, while also spending many years in the massive-at-home Popeda), guitarist Mike Lamminsivu (Baby Green, Technical Justice, Michael Monroe, Dave Lindholm), keyboardist Juha Kinnunen (Muska Babitzin, Marco Hietala, Ryan Roxie) and his son Kasperi (Metallileka and more). Their debut album is a feel-good slice of hard rock music that gets the adrenaline flowing.

SEVEN SPIRES Live At ProgPower USA XXI
This live release by the US prog metallers documents their June 2022 set at the well-known festival in Atlanta, Georgia, a show that saw them deliver a potent selection of songs from their three studio albums to date. Always a spectacular live proposition, the skilled musicianship of the quartet was on full display in this epic set. It includes an appearance from Roy Khan of Conception on ‘This God is Dead’, bringing to life his guest slot on the studio version of the song that can be heard on the band’s current album ‘Gods Of Debauchery’ (2021). The group played UK shows in late January 2023 while on tour with Twilight Force and Silver Bullet.
