Alternative rock crew Never Home have detailed their upcoming EP, their first in 7 years.
Beautiful Years is set for release on January 17th, 2025.
The North Carolina group have also unveiled a music video for the heart-on-sleeve title track, as they continue their run of form with an emo/pop-punk shaped anthem, throwback in inspiration but unerringly contemporary in its delivery.
It’s perhaps fitting then that the track looks at the ups and downs of reminiscence, with the band’s 2010’s-nodding alternative rock setting the perfect backdrop.
Vocalist Nick Klock explains: “‘Beautiful Years,’ the title track of our upcoming EP, is about the bittersweet nature of nostalgia—how it can make the past seem better than it was and leave you wondering if your best days are behind you. At the same time, it’s a reminder that while it’s okay to revisit the past, it’s not a place to stay. Some of my favorite memories come from the hardest times in my life, and it’s fascinating how we reshape those moments in hindsight.”
Klock continues: “We actually wrote this song in 2018, right after releasing our self-titled EP. Looking back now, it feels like the start of something new for Never Home. Even then, we knew we wanted to expand into new territory, and ‘Beautiful Years’ laid the foundation for that. The themes of the song have only rang more true for me in the years since, which feels fitting given how much it reflects on time and change.”

Charlotte, NC pop-punk/alternative rock quintet Never Home has re-emerged after a five-year hiatus. The band’s self-titled debut, released in 2018, earned the group acclaim across North Carolina and beyond, with its heartfelt and hook-heavy allure. Lead single “State Line” was praised as a “classic anthem” by Alternative Press, propelling the band to share stages with genre leading acts including Stand Atlantic, Broadside, and Trash Boat.
Following their single “Landslide” in 2019, the band faced personal hardships that led to their hiatus. Compounded by a global pandemic, the years apart brought challenges, introspection, and ultimately, resilience.
Upcoming EP Beautiful Years is the other side of the same coin as Never Home. While the rookie collection reflected on the struggles of early adulthood, Beautiful Years illuminates the lessons learned. Wiser, yet hopeful, the new music celebrates growth, acknowledges faults, and charts Never Home’s exciting path forward.
Fans of Anberlin and The Dangerous Summer will find a strong connection with the new music; title track “Beautiful Years” caps the band’s 2024 with both unerring honesty and captivating accessibility. Never Home are your perfect bridge from 2010s to present day with their grounded relatability and soaring melodies.
