Bristol hellraisers MOTHER VULTURE have unveiled their latest single offering, ‘Break Me’. The track is inspired by the full throttle, ‘blood-sweat-and-tears’ live performances the band are renowned for and the numerous injuries the band members have picked up in the process. “I’ll break my back if you want me to” is the message to their audience as they explore the theme of sacrifice and suffering for your art. Musically, it’s as thick and crunchy as you’d expect from the 4 piece, featuring colossal guitars and pulsing piano stabs following a driving beat. The track is the 2nd of two singles mixed by the two time Grammy award winning producer, Adrian Bushby (Foo Fighters, Muse, The Darkness). The boys explain: “‘Break Me’ embodies everything this band is about. The never ending battle against ourselves, which constantly leaves us battered and bruised – and we wouldn’t have it any other way. This tune has been brought to life by the legend that is Adrian Bushby, and goes hand in hand with our last release, ‘Go Big Or Go Home’. Trying to “make it” in the music industry mostly feels like you are banging your head against a brick wall, and we’ve been doing just that, A LOT, very hard. We want the world to know, we’re not going anywhere. Whether that wall breaks first, or we do.” At the tail end of December 2023, disaster struck the band when their tour van was stolen from outside the home of drummer Matt West. MOTHER VULTURE swiftly launched a GoFundMe campaign to recoup the losses of the van and the gear inside and managed to meet their £10,000 goal in just 19 hours. Many were quick to point out how much of a testament this feat is to the strong community the band has built around themselves through extensive touring and fan engagement. MOTHER VULTURE are still licking their wounds from their extensive UK and Ireland tour late last year. which included a triumphant sell out at the 400 capacity Thekla in Bristol. Their debut album, Mother Knows Best was described as “…an explosion of monster hooks, punkoid ferocity, psychedelic moments and modern twists” by CLASSIC ROCK and “Somewhere between Royal Blood at their fuzziest, Biffy Clyro at their heaviest and Queens of the Stone Age at their most crazed and chaotic” by KERRANG! MOTHER VULTURE are back out on the road to tour the new single through the rest of this year (itinerary below). Check out the video for ‘Break Me’ below. |
