MOTHER VULTURE drop ‘Slow Down’ single and video, plus upcoming UK dates!

MOTHER VULTURE DROP VISCERAL NEW SINGLE + VIDEO FOR ‘SLOW DOWN’

PLUS UPCOMING UK TOUR DATES

This octave-fuzz laden new offering is MOTHER VULTURE at their most visceral and brooding. ‘Slow Down’ is a feverish and raw musical expression of the human brain experiencing intense anxiety and self destructive tendencies. The lyrics speak of indulging in one’s inner demons and desperately screaming at your own inner monologue to please slow down.

“Life gave me lemons, I squeezed them in my eye.”

The track hints at a new, more mature direction than the usually bombastic and larger than life turbo-rock of the band’s debut album Mother Knows Best (2022) but the spirit of that early sound lives on in the outrageous and theatrical vocal performances and thick, pedal heavy guitar tones. This marries with a more introspective and honest lyricism and grander melodic sections full of vocal layering and echoey psychedelic guitar leads.

Vocalist Georgi Valentine Ivanov had this to say:

“I wanted to use the lyrics to shine a light on the darker side of emotion, the way we sometimes want to flirt with self destruction and that temptation to fall from grace. Because the world gets too much sometimes, and you think something has to break. It’s darker than some of the other stuff we’ve written but it was fun to explore a new sound and get even heavier, both musically and lyrically.”

‘Slow Down’ is another independent release for MOTHER VULTURE, with the band wearing their DIY heritage as a badge of honour. Guitarist Brodie Maguire shares:

“We want to prove that with enough hard work, you can make it as a completely independent band. We want to push the boundaries of just how much is really possible.”

Described as “one of Britain’s most exciting new noises” by Kerrang! and “the new kings of British rock music” by Distorted Sound, everyone seems to agree it’s a hard sound to put a finger on, but it’s impossible to look away. MOTHER VULTURE perform like an early 2000s hardcore band but play a bouncy and infectiously fun style of fuzzy riff rock, with elements of stoner punk, desert rock and even metalcore, creating a melting pot of sound.

Recent years have seen the band make festival appearances at ArcTanGent, Bloodstock, Bearstone (Croatia), Leopallooza, Steelhouse and Burn it Down among others, as well as taking to the road to support the likes of Skindred, Reef, Feeder, ‘68, Steel Beans, Jamie Lenman and Bokassa.

Their debut album Mother Knows Best has been described as “an explosion of monster hooks, punkoid ferocity, psychedelic moments and modern twists” by Classic Rock and “somewhere between Royal Blood at their fuzziest, Biffy Clyro at their heaviest and Queens of the Stone Age at their most crazed and chaotic” by Kerrang!.

MOTHER VULTURE’s last headline tour had multiple sold out dates, including a hometown date at Rough Trade Bristol that reached capacity in just 48 hours. Classic Rock Magazine had this to say when featuring the latest single ‘Break Me’ for their Track of the Week: “Easily one of the most physical, explosive live bands in rock today – with feet in metal, hardcore and Hives-y turbo-rock territory – Mother Vulture bottle that ferocity in the aptly titled ‘Break Me’.”
