The summer will also see
Aida tour the world with events spanning
Seoul to
Santander. She will return to
London in
September for a series of performances of
‘La Traviata’ at
The Royal Opera House.
Born in 1987 in Kazan, Aida Garifullina’s talents bloomed early in life and she completed her first televised performance when she was just five-years-old. Her studies took her to Nuremberg and Vienna before she earned major recognition by winning First Prize at Placido Domingo’s 2013 Operalia Competition. She subsequently joined the ensemble of the revered Vienna Staatsoper, and has since performed under the guidance of renowned conductors including Gustavo Dudamel, Zubin Mehta, Kent Nagano, Antonio Pappano and Yannick Nezet-Seguin.
Broadening her acclaim, Aida won Solo Album of the Year at the Echo Classical Awards and was nominated for a Grammy for Best Opera Recording for Rimsky Korsakov’s ‘The Golden Cockerel’. Landmark moments have occurred ever since, including guesting on Andrea Bocelli’s UK and US #1 album ‘Si’; performing to a huge global televised audience at the BBC Proms in Hyde Park; and receiving the honour of being granted an audience with Pope Francis, before singing at the Vatican’s annual charitable event Concerto di Natale.
Her abilities have taken her from the operatic world into the mainstream, with memorable moments including a performance in the Oscar-nominated film ‘Florence Foster Jenkins’ with Meryl Streep and a performance alongside Robbie Williams at the opening ceremony of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
