There is no denying rock music’s influence on country music. Artists like Hardy, Jelly Roll, Tim Montana, and Cody Jinks have had tremendous success by blurring genre lines. Country duo, The Lacs have often defied the confines of traditional country music creating their backwoods anthems that mix all their musical influences, and the group have now embraced their traditional rock roots on their new single and video for “Story of a Trainwreck”.
“The Story of a Trainwreck is truly us and from the heart. A train wreck to me is one of the most catastrophic events that can take place. I think I look at tough periods of my life and can say this is what made me and molded me,” commented the Lacs’ own Clay Sharpe. “This is me taking those bad portions of life and saying it looks like a train wreck but I wouldn’t have done it any other way because I turned out like this. It made me who I am today.”
Brian King from The Lacs remembers, “When we would go to play a new song live for the first time on stage, Clay would always say jokingly, ‘This is going to be a train wreck.’ Then he came to me with the idea of writing a song under that premise and I thought it was genius. This is one of my favorite new songs that we’ve done in the past few years.”
The Lacs have been crafting country-infused anthems that promise to be the perfect soundtrack for enjoying cold beers or hitting backwoods trails in lifted trucks for years to come. With nearly 500 million YouTube views, 200 million Spotify streams, over a million digital tracks sold, 700,000 albums scanned, ranking among the Top 25 streaming country artists on Pandora, and a cumulative 175 weeks on Billboard’s Country Charts, The Lacs continue to create potent musical moonshine that transcends the boundaries of the traditional country music genre lines.
