“Love Isn’t Real” for Country Stars Kidd G and Leah Marie Mason

(Nashville, TN)- Breakout country artists Leah Marie Mason and Kidd G (Big Machine Label Group) have teamed up on a searing duet, “Love Isn’t Real,” originally released on Kidd G’s 2020 album Teenage Dream: 1000 Miles From Georgia.  Says the artist, “I really loved the original version of “Love Isn’t Real” so much and always felt it could use a female verse. This is my first duet and Leah Marie Mason took it to the next level.”

After meeting in Nashville, the singers immediately connected and began strategizing a collaboration. From the simple yet compulsively singable chorus of the original track to the heartbreakingly detailed new verse from Mason, “Love Isn’t Real” proves itself to be wise beyond its age, much like the singers.

A pitch-perfect mixture of acoustic guitar and a driving beat keeps the listener engaged with the story unfolding. While the structure of the song is similar to that of emotional modern country-R&B currently trending, the power of the duo is enough to catch the attention of devoted listeners of all genres. While Kidd G is establishing a unique blend of hip-hop and country twang, Leah Marie Mason is equipped with her honey-sweet southern vocals that are refreshingly bright and promise crossover appeal. Mason says, “I’m so happy I could bring a girl’s perspective onto this song. I think at some point or another we have all felt a little hopeless when it comes to love, at least I know I have. This song has become something really special and I’m so happy I got to work with Kidd on this project!”

“Love Isn’t Real” is a tale of disillusionment with love. Together, the pair are two sides of the same coin. One side is angry, even resentful, while the other is destroyed and resigned. In the end, the inevitable realization that sometimes you’ve mistaken passion for love is a heartbreaking pill to swallow. As Kidd G alleges in the searing bridge, “you’ll know you believe me when you sing along.”

Biography:

Leah Marie Mason never tries to be perfect. Instead, the North Carolina-born and Nashville-based singer, songwriter, and artist allow her edges to frame an intimate and infectious brand of country that could resonate from a small town to the top of a big city. By doing so, she energizes the genre with universal pop appeal. By the age of eleven, Leah started performing in a classic rock band with her older brother, belting out Heart and Pat Benatar covers. After a year at Berklee College of Music, she transferred to Belmont University in Nashville. Inspired by everything from the classic songwriting of George Strait, bluegrass of The Steeldrivers, and 21st-century vibes of Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa, she spent countless hours writing and honed a sharp signature style, resulting in her debut single “Far Boy.” Taking the reins of her career, Leah watched YouTube tutorials about uploading media to Spotify, outsourced cover art, and finally decided to launch a TikTok page to promote “Far Boy.” The song played over a video captioned, “I called my ex to hang out so he could listen to this song I wrote about him,” and it organically exploded with 13 million views. Amassing tens of millions of views on TikTok and cracking 1 million streams across DSPs independently, she continues to connect on a series of 2021 singles.

Kidd G: Rebel Music and Geffen Records have linked with Big Machine Label Group’s Valory Music Co. imprint to promote developing country artist Kidd G, the companies tell Billboard.
“When we partnered with Kidd G last year, we knew it would take a special team to help him build his unique fanbase around the world,” said Javier Sang, founder/CEO of Miami-based label and management company Rebel Music. “With Geffen and Big Machine Label Group on board with us, he has a true dream team set up for him to win.”
His first release under the new arrangement, fronted by new song “Last Call,” out tomorrow, follows the December launch of Teenage Dream: 1000 Miles from Georgia, a deluxe version of Kidd G’s debut EP, which reached No. 3 on Billboard’s Heatseekers album chart. (Source:  Billboard
