CODY FROST DROPS EXPLOSIVE NEW SINGLE ‘ALLIGATOR’
Pronouns they/them she/her he/him. Cody Frost, the Burnley-born musician, illustrator and tattoo- artist known for their bold fusion of punk, rock, and hyperpop, returns with latest incandescent single, ‘ALLIGATOR.’ With unfiltered emotion, ‘ALLIGATOR’ is another example of Cody’s signature sound—unapologetically honest and sonically daring. Listen [HERE]. The single follows Cody’s most recent release, ‘PROCESS’, a raw and introspective track that dives into themes of identity, mental health, and self-acceptance.
Cody’s musical journey began early, sharing YouTube covers of bands like Slipknot and Nirvana, followed by busking on the streets of Manchester as a teenager. Since then, they’ve seen their profile skyrocket, having been featured on major collaborations with artists such as Enter Shikari (‘BULL’), You Me At Six (‘A Love Letter To Those Who Feel Lost’), and Bury Tomorrow (‘The Carcass King’). Their meteoric rise was cemented when they were nominated for UK Breakthrough Artist at the Heavy Music Awards and appeared in a BBC Radio 1 Maida Vale session with Enter Shikari for Clara Amfo. Cody has also joined the ranks of these artists on tour, supporting both Enter Shikari and Skindred.
Of the single, Cody says, “I wrote this during a tough time, reflecting on how, as musicians, we often feel like we’re selling ourselves as a product. Despite promoting myself, there were times when I first started out where I barely scraped by financially. It’s a harsh reality in the music industry, where only about 16% of artists are working class.”
Cody’s debuted with EP ‘It’s Not Real’ and quickly garnered over 3 million streams across their releases as well as receiving strong support from outlets like Billboard, Wonderland, and BBC Radio 1. Tackling themes of queerness, mental health, and social issues, Cody’s work is rooted in a mission to create an inclusive space within the music industry. Open about their experience living with ADHD, they bring both grit and vulnerability to their songs, reflecting the complexities of navigating life in today’s world.
Beyond music, Cody is a multifaceted artist, working as an illustrator and tattoo artist every week, collaborating closely with a team of women and non-binary creatives. Inclusivity remains at the core of everything Cody does. “Art and music are how I connect with the world,” they say. “It’s personal, but it’s also about creating a larger community where everyone feels seen.”
