Australian indie-rock sensation Spacey Jane debuts their latest single, “Through My Teeth.” Dreamy guitars wash over album opener as frontman Caleb Harper grapples with the guilt and dissonance that come with growing up.

On the song, the band shares, “We’re really happy to have this song out in the world. It’s one of our favourites off the record and we can’t wait for you to hear it. It has a longing and nostalgia that made us all fall in love with the song – it goes and goes until the very last fill and we felt it was the perfect way to start the record.”

The new track is the third offering from Spacey Jane’s forthcoming album, If That Makes Sense, which is set for release on May 9. Last month’s “How To Kill Houseplants” premiered on Paste, who proclaimed, “The final product is an introspective and nuanced study of [Caleb] Harper’s lyricism, as well as the band’s innate finesse when it comes to creating grandeur out of just a few timeless musical components.” Previously released track “All The Noise” received early praise from the likes of PAPER who declared, “[This is] the kind of indie rock offering that makes you remember why you’d even fall in love in the first place, spelling out truths and vulnerable revelations over driving guitar parts and buoyant drums.” Fans can also watch the band’s recent performance on TrackStar, which can be found HERE as well.

If That Makes Sense sees the band explore new facets of their sound and dive deeper into themes of falling in and out of love, overcoming trauma and learning to pick up the pieces. Produced by Mike Crossey (The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Wolf Alice), the band also collaborated with songwriters Jackson “Day Wave” Phillips and Sarah Aarons (Childish Gambino, Miley Cyrus, Lykke Li) to bring this project to life.

The new album follows 2022’s Here Comes Everybody and 2020’s Sunlight. The band became a hometown sensation after the release of Sunlight, topping Triple J’s annual album poll with breakout single “Booster Seat” and earning the ARIA  for Song of the Year. Inspired by the success of their debut album, Spacey Jane got to work on their sophomore album, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Charts and earned them the title of Triple J’s most played artist in 2022. With two critically acclaimed albums under their belt and chemistry that’s stronger than ever, Spacey Jane are swinging for the fences on their forthcoming record. Ahead of the record’s release, the band have also announced a 20+ show headline touring run across Australia and New Zealand. Purchase tickets HERE.

Since their formation in Perth in 2016, Spacey Jane have established themselves as one of Australia’s hottest homegrown talents. The indie-rock quartet are bringing their music to the global stage with their forthcoming third album, If That Makes Sense. Serving as Spacey Jane’s most ambitious and thematically complex record to date, the album unpacks love, loss, trauma, and learning to rebuild. Frontman Caleb Harper, drummer Kieran Lama, and guitarist Ashton Hardman-Le Cornu formed the band while still in college, with bassist/backing vocalist Peppa Lane joining in 2019. They spent their time tirelessly touring and growing a massive fan base across Australia, resulting in countless sold-out tours and two critically acclaimed albums. Their debut album, 2020’s Sunlight, topped Triple J’s annual album poll with breakout single ‘Booster Seat’ scooping ARIA Song of the Year. Spacey Jane followed this up with Here Comes Everybody in 2022, which debuted at number one on the ARIA charts and earned the band the title of Triple J’s most played artist that year. Different from their last two albums, which were written in the midst of jam-packed touring schedules, Spacey Jane gave themselves the liberty of time with If That Makes Sense. They spent weeks meticulously selecting tracks and working with producer Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Wolf Alice, The 1975) to bring the album to life. The time and space to play together resulted in new textural elements to their work, creating the band’s boldest sound yet.
