MASTER’S HAMMER, GREEN CARNATION AND THREE MORE ARTISTS FOR INFERNO 2027

We continue our artist announcements with five new additions to Inferno Metal Festival 2027. This time around, we have legends, returning favourites and exciting new names from the Nordic underground. We give you Master’s Hammer, Green Carnation, Lifesick, Krapyl and Blodmaane.

Master’s Hammer are an influential black metal band from the Czech Republic, formed in 1987. The band are known for their unique style, blending black metal with experimental music. Master’s Hammer have been inactive for the past eight years – but are now back in full force. To celebrate their return, the band will perform their debut album in its entirety, including classics such as «Jáma Pekel», «Géniové» and «Černá svatozář». In addition, they will add essential songs from later years, such as «Vracejte Konve na Místo». The band have never performed in Oslo before, so we are proud to finally welcome the Czech legends to Inferno Metal Festival.

Green Carnation have a history stretching all the way back to 1990, when the band started out as a death metal band in Kristiansand. The band were later put on hold when guitarist Tchort joined Emperor, followed by Satyricon and Einherjer. Green Carnation returned towards the end of the 1990s, now moving in a more progressive direction, and released their debut album, «Journey to the End of the Night», in 2000. A lot has happened since then, and the band have now released nine albums. Their most recent releases make up the masterful trilogy «A Dark Poem», with the first part arriving in 2025 and the final two in 2026. Green Carnation have not played Inferno Metal Festival since 2005, and we are looking forward to having them back at the festival.

Lifesick come from Fredericia in Denmark and have established themselves as one of the country’s most solid hardcore bands. With a sound that appeals just as much to fans of Scandinavian death metal as it does to the hardcore crowd, the band deliver intense live shows of the heavy and aggressive kind. Their latest album, «Loved By None, Hated By All», was released through Metal Blade Records in 2024.

Krapyl are a young and promising black metal band from the deep forests of Telemark. So far, the band have only released the EP «Før alt», which came out in 2023 and offers a distinctive take on Norwegian black metal. The band are currently working on their debut album, which is set for release in 2027. The future looks promising for the Norwegian underground black metal scene when we have newcomers like Krapyl.

There are exciting things happening in the Danish underground as well. The young band Blodmaane play blackened death metal, mixing in progressive elements and dark melancholy. The band recently released their debut single, «Collide», mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Arch Enemy, Amon Amarth and many more). Blodmaane have never played in Norway before, and we are looking forward to having them visit us.

Inferno Metal Festival is Norway’s longest-running metal festival and offers four days packed with concerts, conferences, art, a tattoo fair and a wide range of other festival experiences in the Norwegian capital. Inferno was founded in 2001 and has since established itself as one of the most important meeting points for extreme metal in Norway and internationally. The 2027 edition takes place from 25 to 28 March over Easter and will feature more than 60 concerts, along with an extensive side programme covering culture, music industry events and special activities.

The festival’s main venues are Rockefeller and John Dee, with concerts alternating between the two stages throughout the evening. In addition, club shows take place at a number of Oslo’s clubs and smaller venues. Inferno is also home to the Inferno Music Conference, bringing together artists, industry professionals and media from around the world. Alongside the concerts, the festival also offers art exhibitions, a tattoo fair, instrument clinics and guided experiences around Oslo. Clarion Hotel The Hub will once again serve as the official festival hotel and will also provide a base for parts of the conference programme and several activities during the festival.
