ARCTURUS, ASAGRAUM AND THREE MORE ARTISTS FOR INFERNO 2027

Five new artists are confirmed for Inferno Metal Festival 2027. This time around, we bring you everything from Norwegian avant-garde and Dutch black metal to Danish hardcore and new names from the Norwegian underground. We give you Arcturus, Asagraum, Split, Heimland and Melting Brain Club.

Few bands to emerge from the Norwegian black metal scene in the 1990s are as original and unique as Arcturus. The band started all the way back in 1990, when Norwegian black metal was still in its infancy, with members from bands such as Mayhem, Mortem, Stigma Diabolicum and several others. Their first single arrived as early as 1991, but the band’s unique sound really began to take shape with the EP «Constellation» in 1994 and the debut album «Aspera Hiems Symfonia» in 1996. The following year, they truly showed just how unique Arcturus were with «La Masquerade Infernale». «The Sham Mirrors» followed in 2002, with two more albums arriving later.

When Arcturus return to Inferno, the focus will be on these early albums. The band will perform «Aspera Hiems Symfonia», along with selected songs from «La Masquerade Infernale» and «The Sham Mirrors». In addition, vocalist Øyvind Hægeland, who performed with the band in 2003, will make a special appearance for the occasion. We are looking forward to having Arcturus back at Inferno for a very special show.

Asagraum are a black metal band started by Dutch musician Obscura in 2015. The band’s debut album, «Potestas Magicum Diaboli», was released in 2017 and introduced a band with its own distinctive style, inspired by 1990s black metal and dark psychedelic elements. The band were later picked up by Norwegian label Edged Circle Productions, where they released the following two albums, «Dawn of Infinite Fire» and «Veil of Death, Ruptured». These releases helped establish Asagraum as a highly regarded name in the underground. We are looking forward to having Asagraum back at Inferno Metal Festival!

Split from Copenhagen represent a new generation of Danish hardcore, with a raw and uncompromising sound, sharp songwriting and explosive energy. Following the debut EP «2300» in 2025, the band released «A Thousand Reflections» in 2026, further establishing their sound and identity. In a remarkably short time, Split have already performed at both Roskilde Festival and SPOT Festival. Now the band are ready to show the world what «Amager Hardcore» is all about.

Heimland are a Norwegian black metal band from Karmøy in Rogaland. The band were formed in 2016, but their debut album, «Forfedrenes taarer», did not arrive until 2023 on Edged Circle Productions. The wait proved worthwhile, as the album received excellent reviews from both fans and the press. The band have certainly not been resting on their laurels. The EP «Tronearvingens doed» followed the year after, before their latest album, «Der torv moeter hav», arrived in 2025. It is therefore about time for Heimland to play Inferno Metal Festival for the very first time.

Oslo-based Melting Brain Club blend post-metal, mathcore, psychedelic rock and noise into what they describe as «progressive stress rock». Precision meets chaos in an intense and unpredictable sound driven by heavy grooves, raw energy and shifting dynamics. Their latest album, «Spiritual Filth», was released to strong acclaim in 2026 and was followed by a sold-out release show at Vaterland in Oslo. Melting Brain Club are one of the most exciting new names in the Norwegian alternative underground.

Inferno Metal Festival is Norway’s longest-running metal festival and offers four days packed with concerts, conferences, art, a tattoo fair and a wide range of other festival experiences in the Norwegian capital. Inferno was founded in 2001 and has since established itself as one of the most important meeting points for extreme metal in Norway and internationally. The 2027 edition takes place from 25 to 28 March over Easter and will feature more than 60 concerts, along with an extensive side programme covering culture, music industry events and special activities.

The festival’s main venues are Rockefeller and John Dee, with concerts alternating between the two stages throughout the evening. In addition, club shows take place at a number of Oslo’s clubs and smaller venues. Inferno is also home to the Inferno Music Conference, bringing together artists, industry professionals and media from around the world. Alongside the concerts, the festival also offers art exhibitions, a tattoo fair, instrument clinics and guided experiences around Oslo. Clarion Hotel The Hub will once again serve as the official festival hotel and will also provide a base for parts of the conference programme and several activities during the festival.
